Guest Jimbo Report post Posted November 22, 2003 Anyone else read any of his books, or his new one "Basketball"? His book, "A March to Madness", which chronicled life in the ACC for one season is my favorite non-fiction book. I've read a few of his others, but I think his best are definetly the basketball ones...
MDH257 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2003 John Feinstein is a great writer. I agree that his College Basketball books are his best. I think his golf books sell the most, so he feels obligated to write about it. His last one came out in May and is called Open, it's about the 2002 U.S. Open. The one before that, The Punch, just came out in paperback. He said in an introduction that he promised his publisher he would write a golf book since nobody thought The Last Amatures or The Punch would be big sellers (They were wrong about Last Amatures). CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2003 Feinstein's not the greatest sports author ever (I'm partial to Roger Angell and David Halberstam myself), but he is truly excellent. His book Hard Courts is probably the only interesting book on tennis I've ever read.
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2003 I like his books, but personally he's a arrogant jackass when ever i've seen him on TV, or heard in on the radio.
