Masked Man of Mystery 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2003 I know Robotech was 3 shows, I should have clarified. I meant was the Macross Saga part of Robotech close to the storyline of Macross.
Masked Man of Mystery 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2003 By the way, the Bubblegum Crisis opening song was "Konya wa Hurricane", or Tonight There's A Hurricane
Renegade 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2003 I know Robotech was 3 shows, I should have clarified. I meant was the Macross Saga part of Robotech close to the storyline of Macross. It is close but it still misses out on some stuff. Just finished watching episode 8 of gungrave, cant get enough of it. So far anime of the year.
Guest Kamui Report post Posted December 5, 2003 Just finished watching the second Cardcaptor Sakura movie. Great stuff, highly reccomonded (if you're not one of those people who are too MACHO~!! for magical girls or anything). Anyone else here seen it?
AlwaysPissedOff 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2003 Always wanted to check out Cardcaptor Sakura, but never had the time nor the money to do so. As for what I'm watching now: Naruto(seriously, check it out) DNAngel Yu-Gi-Oh!(yeah, it's the dub, I have no faith in the shitty HK DVDs) Shaman King(Surprisingly enough, the dub isn't bad) Toyko Babylon(I know I spelled that wrong) Hellsing(whenever my DirecTV stops crapping out on me) Space Pirate Mito(two words: Fucking WEIRD!) Rurouni Kenshin(finished the Kyoto Arc, looking for the Christian Arc) Louie the Ruin Soldier(stupid, but funny) Geneshaft(okay so far, although I missed the first few eps on techTV) WOOF. That's quite a lot.
Renegade 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2003 Rurouni Kenshin(finished the Kyoto Arc, looking for the Christian Arc) Dont waste your time APO, its complete bull. The Jinchu manga arc is the way to go. Also the third OVA of macross zero can be downloaded from all good torrent sites, I'm currently downloading it. Oh, I already knew that the Christian Arc sucks, it's just that I'm a completist freak(which is probably why I sat through all 26 episodes of Betterman... UGH.) Renegade 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2003 If your a completist try and get the Jinchu arc manga (the official ending to the Kenshin story, unlike the lame end song episode or the pretty poor reflection OVA)

I liked the first CCS movie better though.

I liked the first CCS movie better though. I did also, but the second one's not really all that worse or anything. I still need to finish watching X. Stupid Final Fantasy XI, taking away from all my anime time.
Renegade 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2003 I've seen up to episode 9 of X. Its been decent so far but I cant fucking stand "I'm too cool for school" Kumi. Its like watching Heero. Need to download more episodes of it though.

Need to download more episodes of it though. Kamui (correct spelling) gets better as time goes on, but I kinda see your point. I think once you hit all the flashback episodes you understand Kamui a lot better- I really ended up loving the character (hence my TSM name).
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2003 As shitty as it is, I have to credit the Sailor Moon dub of 95 to getting me interested in anime. That led to watching the DB / DBZ dub that year, and my friends and I were hooked. I've since educated myself that all of those dubs were awful, but when I see them on TV it brings back nostalgic memories. I generally hate admitting the Moon part, but I genuinely like the show (still watch the last movie every now and then). DBZ, again, is another case where every hardcore anime fan on earth tells me how much it sucks, but I like it, and like it even more since I switched over to the Japanese version via DVD a few years ago. I've been watching Dragonball on YTV lately.. it's a different dub then the US (done by Blue Water / Ocean, not Funimation) and it started out good, even calling Goku 'Son Goku', but there's been a lot of Funimation style 'referencing places that exist on our Earth' problems as of late. Still, it seems like a good dub overall and a fun show. I'm pretty mainstream when it comes to anime, and have taken up watching the Inu Yasha dub this year after watching it with a friend, and I love it. Outside of the 'mainstream box', I did watch the Excel Saga series on DVD this year and was throughly amused, and managed to rent a few volumes of Berzerk from the video store as well. Renegade 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2003 Just watched the third OVA of macross zero and one word, amazing. Makes me wish they remade the original series.

With the success of MZ over in Japan (I'm pretty sure I remember hearing it did very well), I wouldn't count it out.

I'll never understand the DBZ hate. People just seem to have a "I'm cool and an anime purist so I hate Dragonball Z" vibe. I only watched the first 50 episodes bear in mind but had to stop because of the editing. Being a bodybuilder I found their training techniques interesting. Dragonball is just a fun show overall. Is the Dragonball they're showing on YTV different than the one they're showing on the Cartoon Network? I think they're into repeats on YTV right now. Are there going to be any new ones shown? I don't like DBZ not because it's popular- I didn't like it when I first saw it a long, long time ago, and that was before it was popular. The problem I have with DBZ is that I'm not much of an "OMG POWER LEVELS COMBAT~!!" person to start with when it comes to my anime, and DBZ doesn't have much else there, really. I don't run around yelling about how bad DBZ is or anything, I just don't like the show. Dragonball, however, I don't have any problem with. I didn't love it but it was okay in a funny kind of way. Of course there's people who don't like the show because they don't like the show but there are people who thumb up their noses at certain shows because they're too mainstream or it's just simply the cool thing to do. Guest Kamui Report post Posted December 8, 2003 Okay, I have to rave about X some more after just watching episode 18- it was 23 of the best minutes I've ever spent, anime or not. That was just plain incredible- one of my all-time favorite episodes, not just including X- including all of anime. That is the perfect example why, even with all the crappy ho-hum shows that come out nowadays and all the detractors out there, I'll defend and love anime until the day I drop dead. Seriously, this show gets higher on my reccomonded list the more I watch it. Go. watch. it. NOW.
