Randy Orton's "god push"

Recommended Posts

It's not a God Push. Brock Lesnar was a God Push. He and Paul bragged about their victories and Brock never jobbed until injuries forced him to. He was supposed to just take out a big icon like Steve Austin just one random Raw.

Granted, it hasn't taken him any further now than his natural size would have gotten him by this point, except he has a bunch of needless title wins that didn't draw (that WM19 title reign meant DICK and it was almost a relief when he lost it)

I don't think Orton is getting a god push. I think it's a combination of someone backstage liking him and the pressure to create new stars.

The guy's getting a god push because he's the least over guy on RAW getting one of the biggest pushes.

Not having heat + bigger push than Christian/Dreamer/Richards/etc... does not = god push.

By that point he had to win considering Angle's condition.

As for Orton, you can see the early stages of a god push (verbal blowjobs by announcers, numerous segments, wins over HBK, etc.) but it isn't beyond the point of no return yet. If he wins the World Title, ends up in the main event of Wrestlemania, or wins the Royal Rumble, then WWE has chosen to go ahead with it. The problem is that we can easily see this happening, which is why we are bitching about it. Things seem to be heading down that path, whether they actually end up that way or not, and that's why we refer to it as a god push. More based on what we think will happen, rather than what has already happened.

Yes but the booking was going there quite a while earlier.

The weird thing is that's the one time that Lesnar had "The Chase," and there was really no payoff for his career. His first time the title was just about handed to him as a formality. They really worked out a real angle for this one and then followed it with "Uh, what now?"

To be honest I'm just thankful that WWE is at least trying these days, as long as they push someone new and try and give me programs on top that I havn't been watching for nearly five years now then I'm not about to complain, I'd personally have saved the god pushes for people like Edge but if WWE think they can make something out of Orton and Cena then go for it says I :)

Rob - Never thought he'd find himself praising the WWE booking squad

< STILL waiting for a good reason why this is a "god'' push...

Randy Orton is using his position as Levesque's personal BJ machine to get into places it takes people years to get to.

How many YEARS did it take Bret Hart? Shawn Michaels? Mick Foley? Steve (Williams) Austin?

Uhhh... yeah. You do realize that's part of a storyline don't you?

And it didn't take Bret, HBK, Foley, or Austin long to establish themselves as players in the midcard when they got started. Granted, it took them awhile to get main event- but you did say ORTON'S position, didn't you?

You people who single out Orton as the scapegoat for everything wrong with WWE today need a wakeup call. If a guy has no heat, and you want him to GET heat, what do you do? Actually give him a bit of a push or just job him out on the weekend shows no one watches? But this goes against the herd mentality of this place to actually consider. Since Anglesault decided Orton sucks because HE says so, and came up with very unfunny "Suckbag" moniker, now we have half the board follwing suit.

As long as we're talking about our delusional friend Anglesault, in the Jericho/HBK match the RKO clearly was not enough to keep HBK down, since the match went on for 5-6 MINUTES after that. I don't know what match AS saw but I remember HBK tapping to the Walls- which was also played up as a big deal for him to tap. No one with half a brain cell who saw that would give Orton the credit for Jericho's win.

Hey everybody- remember when Orton won the title at Summerslam? No? But.... I was so sure it was going to happen... at least that's what everybody was trying to convince me. Oh well... he at least destroyed everybody in the match, right? Oh wait again... that was Goldberg.

Same thing with Orton winning the belt at Mania. I've never heard anything like that. It was just someone here bitching about what they're worried MIGHT happen, which somehow got twisted around as a fact. Do you really think HHH would drop the belt to Orton at the biggest show ever? Which do you think would draw better- HHH/Foley or HHH/Orton? Come on now.

More based on what we think will happen, rather than what has already happened.

See, at least you actually admit it.

Catch some perspective people. Brock last year was a god push. Goldberg in WCW was a god push. HHH in 99 was a god push. By comparison, Orton's push is very half-assed if anything.

No, the triple threat of HHH, Stephanie & Vince is what is wrong with WWE. Orton is a symptom.

Why is it necessary to get Orton over by any means necessary?

If he hasn't gotten over after four months of pushing (About October) say "fuck this" job him out on heat and push someone that already is over that you have basically been ignoring.

He went for the pin, Shawn kicked out, then he put him in the Walls and Shawn tapped.

Not five or six minutes.

And all the while, Coach was telling me, the idiot wrestling fan, that this was all Randy Orton's doing.

Both Orton and Cena have been given the same amount of time in the WWE. Orton's biggest opponent was Michaels, Cena's was Angle. They are given equal pushes, but who is over and who is not? If you picked Cena as being over, congratulations! You've just won a "Word Life" T-Shirt! If you picked Orton as being over, you're incorrect. Please pick an Evolution shirt out of the huge landfill of Evlution shirts, and a HHH sledgehammer.

But.....Orton did get injured...so that could possibly explain him not being over with the fans.

You seem to be a dumbfuck who doesn't know what "god push" means.

Don't forget that if I were pushed into a busy highway, the adrenaline would kick in and I'd be fine. ^_^
