Cartman 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 I have been finding these system "Data Base Files" called Thumbs in random folders on my computer lately. I have never seen this before until a few months ago. Any explanation as to what this could be and if it's bad what can I do about it? I have tried doing a search and deleted all those files but they keep coming back.
Guest I'm That Damn Zzzzz Report post Posted November 30, 2003 (edited) Thumbs.db is where XP keeps thumbnail sized previews of the pictures and first frame of videos in the folder, so if you use the View Thumbnails option you can see previews of those files more quickly. To stop XP from making thumbs.db, in any folder click Tools > Folder Options > the View Tab > checkmark Do Not Cache Thumbnails. Edit: minor clarification.
