New GHC Tag-Team Champions

Recommended Posts

Guest ligerbomb03

Yuji Nagata & Hiroshi Tanahashi defeated Kenta Kobashi & Tamon Honda in 33:29 today to become the new GHC Tag-Team Champions in NOAH.

Would love to see this match sometime. Credit goes to puroresupower.com for the news.

Congratulations to the new champions :)

The one question on my mind right now, though, is can anybody take the heavyweight title off Kobashi?

BURNING!!!

I just hopep Nagata would have someone else as his partner. Nishimura or Nakanishi. Tanahashi is getting the craziest push though.

Not really, as I think he deserves a long kick ass run.

Yeah, he definitely deserves a good long run with the title. Whenever the time is right for him to pass it on to someone else, I would say one possibility is Jun Akiyama.

Sad to see him lose the tag-team title, but I guess it's no big deal. :(

I think Akiyama is the ONLY possibility. In reality, who else is there? Unless they could bring in someone for the long hall that would be believable.

Which is NOAH's problem right now, not enough believable guys to hold the GHC. Takayama could probably help them out, but he's more of an Inoki guy than a NOAH guy.

Akitoshi Saito was looking good in tags, but I haven't heard anything about him in ages

And NOAH made the dumb decision the other day to have Akiyama lose his match

Do you guys think that maybe they should bring in some freelancer and build him up? Tenryu perhaps? Or just wait for the strong possibilty that AJPW could close and try and snag some of their guys?

also Ligerbomb your sig rocks!!!!

Thanks for the comment about my sig. photo. Wish I could watch some footage of Jericho during his time as Super Liger. He looks funny and cool in that outfit.

No problem at all. The sig does rock, what can I say. I would LOVE to see Jericho wrestle under this gimmick. Any clue of when he used it?

I understand it was a gimmick that lasted for only one match in 1997 against Koji Kanemoto.

January 4th 1997 in the Tokyo Dome. Built up as Koji Kanemoto vs X. X turned out to be Super Lyger, supposed to have a big run with Lyger (that I imagine would have included a J*Crown match, possibly even a title change) but Jericho wasn't cofortable in the suit and mask. He also blew some spots and NJPW just kinda said "fuck it"

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I wouldn't mind doing a Puro review in the next little while. I've been on hiatus for quite a few months now and doing another writer up wouldn't be a bad idea. In any case, I hope the guy looking for information on Super Lyger was helped out if only a bit.
