Guest Mystery Eskimo Posted April 10, 2002 Report Posted April 10, 2002 Call me naive, but I think serious steroid use is exaggerated. These guys are all professional athletes remember, with top class trainers, dieticians etc.
Guest swan Posted April 10, 2002 Report Posted April 10, 2002 Drinking lots of water isn't any sort of "clue" that one is on steroids. Sure it is. I know people that have done it in the past. They need to drink lots of water. Just because somebody does doesn't mean they are on them of course, but somebody on a cycle needs to drink tons of water. Just a fact.
Guest SuicidalAfterBash91 Posted April 10, 2002 Report Posted April 10, 2002 I'm pretty sure Ralphus was on the gas
Guest J*ingus Posted April 10, 2002 Report Posted April 10, 2002 Seriously, the vast majority of WWF wrestlers use steroids in some amount or another. Some of the people in this thread are forgetting a few things: 1. There are different kinds of steroids, and hugely different amounts can be taken. A guy can take a moderate amount of steroids, for healing purposes, with no obvious visual effect on his body. Jake Roberts has said that he used steroids to heal, and he obviously didn't turn into Jim Helliwig. 2. Not everyone who takes steroids is a Hoganesque bodybuilder. I know one indy wrestler who takes a pretty fair-sized cycle of them, and you'd never know it to look at him, he just looks like a chunky fat guy. (But he can shoot-powerbomb a 300 pound guy.) Remember that when insisting that guys like the Dudleys can't be on the gas. Also, some real skinny guys won't gain much weight no matter how much they take. Dynamite Kid had to shoot up such a ridiculously large load to get to the size he was that it permanently enlarged his heart. Someone who's naturally a shrimp, like Tajiri, X-Pac, or Kidman, could easily be doing a moderate load of steroids. 3. Get over your smark prejudices. Kurt Angle's muscles and build are about the same size as Triple H's, in fact Angle's are even larger and more defined in some areas, yet everyone insists that HHH is a 'roid monster but Kurt couldn't POSSIBLY be on. And saying that Hogan stopped doing them a long time ago, or that Edge couldn't be using them, or heaven forbid that Benoit's massive biceps could come from anything chemical in nature? Come on, people, take a reality check.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted April 10, 2002 Report Posted April 10, 2002 Somebody that drinks a lot of water Actually drinking a lot of water is not a sign of steroid use. Bodybuilders drink lots of water so that they don't ruin their kidneys. This is not due to steroid use, but the excessive amount of protein that they eat.
Guest swan Posted April 10, 2002 Report Posted April 10, 2002 • Swollen or puffy face: This is one of the most common side-effects and is caused by excessive water retention. A user's face often becomes swollen and tight, particularly around the eyes and cheeks. • Severe acne: Steroids can cause acne, especially on the back, shoulders and chest, or make existing acne problems much worse. • Rapid weight gain: Most users gain 3.5 to 9 kg (8 to 20 lbs) on the first 6 to 8 week cycle. • Personality changes: Increased aggression, mood swings, irritability and frustration are common among steroid users. • Jaundice: The user's eyes and skin may become yellow. • Premature hair loss: Certain steroids can cause hair loss or hair thinning. • Obsession: Users may be obsessed with their image, their body, and the type and amount of food they eat.

Guest Posted April 10, 2002 Report Posted April 10, 2002 Funny how we don't bring up our little internet God Chris Benoit. He is rip to the max but I'm sure everyone's theory on him is that he just works out hard.
Guest bsrizpac Posted April 11, 2002 Report Posted April 11, 2002 It's sad how little information the users of this forum have on fitness, martial arts and things like nutrition and steriods. It is funny though.

Guest Posted April 11, 2002 Report Posted April 11, 2002 -- Triple H did an interview with Chaunce Hayden in Steppin Out magazine recently and He was asked if he had ever taken steroids in reply to which he gave a political answer saying "I don't condone it's use. But I understand it's place. I don't have a problem with people who take steroids. It's a great medicine for people who need it, and it has a place in the world just like any other medication. If a doctor feels that's what you need to improve your health or life and puts you on it, then that's great. However, if you take it without any sort of prescription, then it's just like any other drug, and you shouldn't take it. It should only be given by a doctor." Triple H didn't say he does Take em, but he didn't say he didn't either.
Guest dreamer420 Posted April 11, 2002 Report Posted April 11, 2002 I would guess that Eddy and Benoit are both on something.
Guest Posted April 11, 2002 Report Posted April 11, 2002 I dunno about Eddie. He says he totally clean now, Alcohol, Drugs and even Pain Killers. I don't think he would be stupid enough to take Steroids just in case it leads him to take other things. But, Who really knows?
Guest humongous2002 Posted April 11, 2002 Report Posted April 11, 2002 Let's just remember something these guys are athletes and the reason they take roids it's because they need it for the job. It's a necessity for them to stay on the top of their game and even though using roids is their lifestyle it doesn't mean the wrestlers don't work hard, taking a shot of testasterone or a couple of d-bols doesn't make them get big from one day to another. Taking juice is dangerous if you don't know how to control yourself just like abusing alcohol or smoking marlboros will eventually caught up to anyone down the road.
Guest Cataclysm911 Posted April 11, 2002 Report Posted April 11, 2002 Well, I was around a few people that took steriods back when I was in weight lifting in High School. One of the first signs, is heavy acne that starts to form around your upper back. Kurt Angle has this, but I highly doubt that he is juicing. RVD also has this, but I don't think that he is juicing either. In fact, I only think that one person in the WWF may be on steroids. I'm not talking about HHH either. Vince McMahon. Also, trying to say that all steroid abusers have to drink a lot of water is absurb. Anyone who weight trains heavily, and is looking to lose fat or increase muscle mass has to drink heavy liquids so that they don't become dehydrated. Use some common sense.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted April 11, 2002 Report Posted April 11, 2002 i don't know about steriods i think they've fallen out of favor with athletes and there using other variations of the drugs. but really most if not all wrestlers take something to help with their phisique.

That is a very ignorant statement, seeing as how you have no hypothesis to form your conclusion from. Why are most of the wrestlers on steroids? Because they are large in size? That's bullshit.
Guest Posted April 11, 2002 Report Posted April 11, 2002 Also, don't forget about veins sticking out of the skin ridiculously far. Dead give away.
Guest Human Fly Posted April 11, 2002 Report Posted April 11, 2002 "Also, don't forget about veins sticking out of the skin ridiculously far. Dead give away." Alright this is getting rediculous. Veins sticking out far? Big deal if someone lifts for cut, or even if they are adding size there veins are going to get big. Anyone who says that drinking a lot of water is a sign of steroid use has obviously never worked out a day in there life. I'm not going to sit here and defend all of the wrestlers but I am going to say that everyone who is chiming in with their opinions needs to get their facts straight. Everytime I come back to this thread I see more "expert opinions" that are rediculous to anyone who understands training, proper diet, and supplement use. If any of you guys don't know this isn't 1945 there are substances widely available for purchase that will enhance muscle gowth, muscle definition, and burn fat. Before people check in with their opinions maybe they should do some research. I know after I read this someone is going to write "But HHH is so big blah, blah, blah" well HHH also used to be a power lifter. If you've seen pics of him from like 10 years ago he is big as a house. He sized down majorly, but once you have reached a certain level it's lot easier for it to come back to you. My Dad is 50+ years old and hadn't trained for like 5 or 6 years. He lost a lot of size and almost all of his cut. He's been back to training now for like a year and he's in some of the best shape of his life. Look at HHH videos when he was beginning his big run. He didn't all of the sudden balloon up he put it on gradually. Also, to the person who said that putting on 8 - 20 pounds in a certain period of time is a sure sign of steroid cycling well there are certain types of creatine (Cell Tech)where it's been documented that people have put on 10 pounds in a week. I'm not going to go on any further, but if you're going to write something please know what you're talking about.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted April 11, 2002 Report Posted April 11, 2002 • Obsession: Users may be obsessed with their image, their body, and the type and amount of food they eat. Guest imajackoff? Posted April 11, 2002 Report Posted April 11, 2002 Angle was obviously taking steriods in late '00 and early '01 his facial features were all swollen not to mention his freakish body. If you look at what he looked like when he first started showing up on WWF in late 99 and what he looked like in say, the WM X7 match with Benoit, you can see the difference. Dont be blinded by prejudice. I remember listening to WOL during the time and Alvarez was mentioning the same thing, and he is a huge Angle mark.

That's bullshit. ok i say that because many former wrestlers and people connected with the industry say that such use is rampant backstage. do I know if this is true? No, of course not. but do you know if it's not true? if i was a wresstler i'd be tempted to take such drugs because having THE LOOK is so important especially to get into the WWF.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted April 11, 2002 Report Posted April 11, 2002 I'll say this much: I believe there are wrestlers taking thermogenic supplements too. Shawn Stasiak is the first one that springs to mind. He does not have a lot of definition or cuts, just veins everywhere. The WWF endorses the stuff (Stacker 2, Meta Cuts) with commercials but runs down people when they use them (see Tough Enough 2). I'm willing to bet that there are a lot of people in the WWF using thermogenics. As far as steroid use goes, there are a few guys that are so obvious that it is embarrasing. I ignored all of the acne and the loated look of Perry Saturn, but while looking at a picture of him in Smackdown 2, I remembered hearing how scrawny he was whn he first got into the business. Looking at the picture I thought, this guy has a lot more muscle than his frame is naturally designed to carry. I would say Angle might be on the juice too. If you look at him when he first came to the WWF and him last year and during 2000, there was a dramatic increase in size, baldness adn acne on his back. Triple H is on the juice too. Don't kid yourself.
Guest swan Posted April 11, 2002 Report Posted April 11, 2002 Also, trying to say that all steroid abusers have to drink a lot of water is absurb. Anyone who weight trains heavily, and is looking to lose fat or increase muscle mass has to drink heavy liquids so that they don't become dehydrated. Use some common sense. I am using common sense jack. I know people that have used or currently use steroids. They drink a lot of water, as do most serious lifters that don't juice. I stated not everyone that drinks water does. I'd highly doubt some guy that doesn't use any suplements would drink a high voulume of water. Really when it comes down to it nobody here knows for sure, regardless of what they think. Most people here probally don't have any concept of working out and the various supplements, legal and otherwise.
Guest swan Posted April 11, 2002 Report Posted April 11, 2002 Anyone who says that drinking a lot of water is a sign of steroid use has obviously never worked out a day in there life. Shows what you know. I have indeed worked out. I didn't say JUST drinking water is a sign. But any serious lifter OR juicer drinks a lot of water. End of story jackass.
Guest Human Fly Posted April 11, 2002 Report Posted April 11, 2002 Does a steroid user have to drink anymore water then a normal lifter? Before you go around calling people jackasses you needs to specify you rinformation. Just drinking a lot of water is not a sign of steroid use. If you would've said that someone who is on steroids needs to drink a ton more water then anyone who lifts then I would have no problem with it. All you said was any lifter or juicer drinks a lot of water. Well, usually a juicer is a heavy lifter so unless they are drinking a lot more water then the heavy lifter or bodyuilder then I would say the reason they're drinking the water i sthe same reason any other lifter is. Clarify your statements better next time, you're the one looking like the ignorant ass.

I'm willing to bet that there are a lot of people in the WWF using thermogenics. That was a little weird. Why do you think they cut that guy Aaron from Tough Enough jsut because of that? Probably to spin that they dont approve of it when they do? • Jaundice: The user's eyes and skin may become yellow. Orange is half yellow. Yes Im looking at YOU Mr. Hunter GrowthHormone...you fucking idiot. Kurt Angle's muscles and build are about the same size as Triple H's, in fact Angle's are even larger and more defined in some areas, yet everyone insists that HHH is a 'roid monster but Kurt couldn't POSSIBLY be on. Kurt Angle got offended over a crucfix angle in ECW. No way someone that much of an uptight jackass could do those and not cry. Plus if this ever got out Angle would be crucified like the Sandman by the mateur wrestling community. And he's always bee going bald anyway. And saying that Hogan stopped doing them a long time ago, or that Edge couldn't be using them, or heaven forbid that Benoit's massive biceps could come from anything chemical in nature? Come on, people, take a reality check. Hogan is not a smark darling. And why cant you beleive he doesnt take them anymore? Edge has been like that forever. Hes definitely not on.

Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted April 11, 2002 Report Posted April 11, 2002 Anyone who would say that drinking a lot of water is a sign of steroid use clearly lacks any knowledge in this topic and should not speak on this topic if you are going to say things like that. Hell, creatine users drink a lot of water so that the water can be absorbed into the body. A lot of athletes drink a lot of water, your statement was one of the most ignorant things I have ever heard regarding steroid use.

I would say about 9 out of the 10 posters in this thread have absolutly zero zip knowledge when it comes to working out, steroids, or anything. All my comments come from direct contact with people that currently use or at one time did use steroids. One guy I worked out with in college used them. I am just stating what I witnessed personally and heard from actual users. I personally think these folks would offer the best insight to what happens to ones body and why they do it. If you don't agree with me or what I have seen or heard in person or can't handle a first or second hand account, thats fine, just don't call me ignorant or lacking knowledge.
