Butt ugly cars

Recommended Posts

I look at the front end and the letters "BMW" come to mind while the side and back remind me of inbred bastard son of the 67 and 97-02 Mustangs.

On subject, I hate Fords, but the new Mustang looks great.

Off subject, the Chevette is the ugliest car ever...BUT THEY ROCK!

Yeah, the four headlight arrangement is very BMW-ish, but that's how the GTs were in the 60s before BMW was even known for that look.

As for the inbred son, that's the idea. The latest trend in cars, where they're made to look modern yet older is called Retrofuturism. The idea with it here was to mate modern styling cues with the Mustang image of the 60s that are conjured up in people's minds when the car is mentioned. They could have done better, as no car is completely perfect (except for the Shelby GT 500E), but I think this is still a home run as far as designing was concerned.

There was speculation all over the Mustang sites about what the red button was, and no one could figure it out. Some conjectured it was an emergency engine shut-off button. I have no idea, myself.

Emergency Engine Shut-Off?

They couldn't think of something simple that could actually be useful? I'd say there's a good chance that it's a engine start button, ala Honda S2000.

What's wrong with the Mini Coopers? They look great and keep the spirit of the original Mini's without being overly retro. Also, all the car experts report that the S model is an incredibily fun car to drive.

Honda Element's look ALOT better when the plastic cladding is painted. The same goes for the Chevy Avalance. Even then, the Cadillac version of the Avalance looks better.

The replacement for the Pontiac Aztek(Pontiac Vibe) is a major improvement.

The current Monte Carlos and the new model Malibu's are both awful looking. It appears the new Malibu's are designed well in other areas, but in terms of cosmetics it's horribly designed.

I'm surprised to see no votes for the Porsche Cayenne. It seems to be a design that divides people. You either like it or you totally despise it. Either way you can't argue with it's performance.

Emergency Engine Shut-Off?

It isn't being built yet and was still in the testing stage. An emergency shut-off would make sense. Its positioning was in front of the passenger anyway.

I just noticed you were talking about the passenger side. Emergency Engine Shut-Off is too gimmicky and...um kinda stupid. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to give passengers the ability to shut my engine off.

No no no, I was saying that it was there simply because it was one of the mules. There's no engine shut-off planned for the car nor will there ever be. On test cars it's fairly common though.
