PWG Announcing

Recommended Posts

The PWG Announcing is so fucking hilarious it's beyond BELIEF. So many hilarious non-offensive Jewish jokes (I'm jewish) because they perform at the Westside community Center...omg I laughed the whole time. Here are a few.

"this is a very controversial decision...just like letting women vote...nobody wanted it, but it happened"

"We have a special guest from the past, another black jew, Sammy Davis Jr."

"There was only a small crew, just one Mexican fellow, and I don't think he was Jewish"

And this was in the first 2 minutes!

My only problem with it though is it does take away from the good matches.

That is true (especially with BBoy/SD Vs. Briscoes) but at least you have the option of turning it off. Unlike other wrestling commentary

After seeing all the shows they've done so far (except for this last one), I don't think it's that great but it's still fun. I will be going to the next show, but more for Joe and CM Punk than the PWG guys. I thought Ryan vs. Dragon was mediocre, and the three way blew next to the 2/23/02 ROH one. However, I think Briscoes vs. SD/BB was excellent, and in front of an ROH crowd it would have had INSANE heat...as it was, in front of 100 people, it was hard to really feel the heat. The second best match they've had was Chris Daniels vs. Frankie Kazarian. Daniels was a god in this match, just totally carrying Frankie to an excellent match. I want to see 11/15.

I'd have to disagree with some of that.

I thought SD Vs. Ryan was excellent in many ways, It told a nice story and everything was done for a reason. It just worked and succeeded in getting Ryan over and building the feud.

Also True, the 3-way does not compare to the ROH ones... but what 3-way does?

As far as Crowd heat goes... The SoCal crowds are tough to explain. As sometimes they are really really loud (see SD Vs. Taro from RevPro 11/29/03) sometimes they are respectfully silent (see Punk Vs. Joe - 11/15/03) and sometimes they are just screaming morons (See most EPIC matches) It may not always come through on the tapes but the heat IS there.

Anyway, hope you enjoy seeing the 12/13 show live because half the fun of PWG is the live experience. Bring a few friends too because PWG can use all the people they can get....

The crowd on the first 2 shows was the most obnoxious I've ever seen. They ruined Hook vs. Super Dragon, which was actually a good match when I watched it with sound off.

I'm watching AYAPTR right now, and it's great. Excalibur is like Jesus on the mic and Disco Machine is fucking great too. I like the fact that they (PWG) don't take everything seriously. When groups and their fans take the product too seriously, I honestly start to hate it. It is one of the reasons I haven't bought a ROH show in a while. Sometimes I just wish fans would stop analyzing the matches and enjoy the fucking show.

And fans that enjoy the show by analyzing the matches are supposed to do what?

Anyways, I liked Rock too, but I hated the debut show and the first night of Badass Mother 3000. The second night was solid, and "rock" was a good show. The "rock" fans were much more tolerable than the first few.

I think he means the "over-analyzing" some people do for ROH that gets annoying. Constructive criticism is always cool though.

Anyway well, The Debut show was abit of a mess. It did seem a little cursed as Samoa Joe and Jardi Frantz got injuried. Havana Pitbulls/Quance/Pinoy/B-Boy all took other bookings, various others canceled and no showed. Plus Chris Bosh got knocked out which ruined that match...

knowing the backstory it still turned out ok but not nearly as good as it could have been but I personally loved the all the other shows though, "An Inch Longer Than Avarage" probably most of all.

As for annoying PWG fans, It could be worst. On some GSCW tapes you can hardly pay attention to the match due to all the fans yelling things. PWG fans have never been that bad.. all in all PWG has a good group of fans that sometimes can really help out the show (you really notice this live)

Wait, there are people that enjoy analyzing matches?? That's like going to a concert, starring at the guitar player, and breaking apart his playing technique, when you aren't even a guitar player. To me, that kills the joy of the event, but I realize I don't have a right to tell people how to find joy. If they find joy in it, so be it. I'm just tired of hearing people say and seeing people write about someone no selling, being carried, blowing spots, etc... (I know, I'm on the wrong board if I don't like it). I'll stop before this turns into more of an anti-smark rant.

I just finished watching the first disc of "Rock" and wow. Briscoes vs. Dragon and B-Boy was nuts. I enjoyed everything else as well. It honestly doesn't take much to please me, but if I think something sucks, it sucks horribly. hahaha

As for the commentary:

The golf commentary during Briscoes vs. Dragon and B-Boy was fucking funny.

The child/spousal abuse commentary from another match (I think it was Hook Bomberry vs. Scorpio Sky) had me almost crying (with laughter).

Ok, I just rewatched all of BAM 3000, and my opinions changed a lot since I just watched for workrate this time and I turned the volume off. The main thing that changed was my appreciation for Ryan vs. Dragon, which went through the roof. Review probably coming tomorrow.
