KingPK 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2003 So I'm putting together my Christmas list of games I want, and I want a college b-ball game. It's come down to either EA's March Madness, or ESPN College Hoops. I've read reviews online that rate the games very closely (usually in the 8 range), and both games have features that appeal to me (ESPN's Legacy mode vs. EA's attention to how the college game is played). I'm going to rent them both this week and play through them a little, but I just wanted the opinions of people who have played either or both games already. Any help is appreciated. jimmy no nose 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2003 If you already have the ESPN NBA game then you should definitely get March Madness. The problem with Sega's sports is that their college games are the same as the pro games, just with different teams. EA tend to change the gameplay to focus more on the way college ball is played. Guest Flyboy Report post Posted December 10, 2003 People still buy EA Sports' basketball games besides the NBA Street series? What the fuck?

Actually, I thought that was completely NOT the case last year... I got the ESPN College Basketball game and it played way different from the NBA version. Lots of zone defense and a slower, half-court style game. Much more team-oriented instead of the mostly one-on-one NBA game. I liked the concept, but there were still other things that bugged me about it. Count me in on those curious to know what March Madness is like this year. Gert T 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2003 Haven't played 2K4, but my major gripe with 2K3 was that you couldn't hit a button to pass it to all four players, and you often would miss the open man or create a turnover.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2003 Ok, so I rented both games and played around with them a bit, and my decision is: I'd be happy with either one. Really, both games simulate the college game very well (although ESPN does waver into the pro vibe a little), and the features are good on both games. If you asked me at gunpoint to choose one, I'd choose ESPN solely for the Legacy mode: it's really cool to keep in touch with recruits all year and take UMass back to prominence, and the Create-A-School is more detailed, you can make your own fieldhouse and name it whatever you want. March Madness' Dynasty mode is not as detailed, but it is pretty good on it's own. I'm putting both on my list, and I'll be happy with either.
