Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2003 I just want to point out the irony in all this. Oklahoma fans jumping up and down screaming "Who cares that we got bitchslapped in the conference championship...you have to look at the full season!!!" And Oklahoma's QB winning the Heisman as a result of voters not judging the full season and turning in their ballots early. I think I'll move to Oklahoma. The land of being handed everything you don't deserve. Oh god. Now you really are acting like an OU hater. They don't deserve anything? That's just about the most ignorant thing I've ever heard. I've seen you make intelligent posts before BPS. I expected that out of someone like ANKLELOCK but you? Yes OU doesn't deserve anything. They dominated there season. Yes they got beat in the Big XII championship. Yes they got beat because K-State played better. But you know what? USC and LSU got beat to. Actually everyone this season got beat. Jason White doesn't deserve the Heisman? The other players don't deserve any of there awards? Once again......have you seen OU play football? Aside from the Big XII championship....have you seen them play football? And like I said.....I'd hope those Heisman voters would've looked at the whole season instead of on instance. Otherwise they're just being dumb.

The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2003 "And like I said.....I'd hope those Heisman voters would've looked at the whole season instead of on instance. Oklahoma deserves to play for the National title despite being the only 1 loss team to get BLOWN OUT and the only team of the 3 to NOT WIN THEIR CONFERENCE. And yet...Jason White winning the Heisman as a result of half the people not waiting to see him lead his team to a throttling...that's OK...because it's my team. Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2003 (edited) Well the fact that you said OU didn't deserve anything immediately caused me to dimiss your opinion. Because well to say they didn't deserve anything....is just ignorant. And btw......K-State is a ranked team. And in preseason was picked to be a National Title contender. USC while losing in overtime lost to a horrible unranked team. But just because it came earlier makes it all better. Oh and btw USC didn't even have a conference championship game. They just won because they had the best record of the conference. They just had it handed to them. If OU was in the Pac-10 they would easily be the conference champions. But the Big XII makes you earn it, and unfortunately OU wasn't the better team on that night. However they still played a game to earn it. Which can't be said for USC. God I give up. Logic seems like an impossible concept for some of you. Think what you want to. I know OU deserves everything they have and I know that they are a good team. And btw.....they earned that national title game based on there season merits. Thank god that the BCS takes the whole season into account and not just one game at the end of the season. It takes into account what you did in the entire season rather than being shortsighted like the AP and The Coaches. So believe what you want to believe. I know your wrong. Plus I'm the Anglesault of OU. Edited December 16, 2003 by The Mighty Damaramu
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2003 When KSU was owning Oklahoma, Stoops refused to abandon the pass-wacky gameplan, despite the fact that it obviously wasn't working. A team with a real defense came in and shut the system down, and its QB along with it. But was he the best player in the country? I don't think so, but I don't have a Heisman vote. Actually OU moved the ball fairly well down the field. White passed for nearly 300 yards. They just couldn't get the ball in the end zone. They where also hurt by their running game, and costly turnovers. It's really not supposed to go to best player in the country. That's too difficult to determine, has somone like Robert Gallery of Iowa could very well be the best player in the country. It's a Player of the Year Award, and essentially an MVP Award. Guest Redhawk Report post Posted December 16, 2003 If it's for the best player, then Larry Fitzgerald should have won it. If it's for MVP, it should have been Chris Perry, Fitzgerald or Manning, in that order.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2003 Actually I would still say White was the MVP. He had the biggest impact on his team and led them to that record breaking season. Remember they had the same team under Nate Hybl and weren't half as good as they are under White.
C Dubya 04 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2003 I have no problem with White winning this award. He put up incredible numbers in a tough conference on a winning football team. The argument that he didn't have a great game doesn't hold up with me. Show me any of the players that had a great game in every game of the season. Larry Fitzgerald (sp?) certainly didn't. He had a chance to showcase his talent in a huge game against Miami, and did nothing except for catching a meaningless touchdown at the end of the game.
