Downhome 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2003 I'm trying to delete some shit here on my computer, but when I go to delete it I get an error saying that the program must be closed for me to do so, and that it's running. Is it possible in the first place for crap to be running secretly or something? If so, what in the world do I do? Also, what does it mean when I get the error "Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected"? Sincerely, ...Downhome...

Downhome 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2003 Yes I know about that, but it isn't coming up with any of the programs that I can't delete. Someone just told me to download a program called Hijack This and do the scan. Do you know if that's any good?
MrRant 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2003 Maybe. I would try Spybot before HijackThis since that is mostly for browser hijackings.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2003 Maybe. I would try Spybot before HijackThis since that is mostly for browser hijackings. I think I might have a case of that also, seeing how my home page and other stuff changes all the time without my ever doing it. I just want to clean my computer the hell up, strange things happen all the time. Like a damn pop up that "sneaks" up the right hand side of my screen, etc... I've went through AdAware, SpyBot, etc... and these things still go on.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2003 Yes I know about that, but it isn't coming up with any of the programs that I can't delete. Are you looking at Applications or Processes? I'd find it VERY unusual for something to run and not be listed under Processes.
Guest Scotsman Report post Posted December 12, 2003 (edited) Get HiJack this. You can download it here. Post the log here, and we'll be able to see exactly what is running. It's not just for browser hijacking, and no idea why that was said. Edited December 12, 2003 by Scotsman
MrRant 0 Report post Posted December 12, 2003 Actually you would down load it from here: http://mjc1.com/mirror/hjt/ I said it was IN GENERAL used for browser hijackings moreso than spyware. Most would agree.

Guest Scotsman Report post Posted December 12, 2003 Actually you would down load it from here: http://mjc1.com/mirror/hjt/ I said it was IN GENERAL used for browser hijackings moreso than spyware. Most would agree. I'd disagree. While it was originally started for browser hijacks, its used a lot more often as a diagnostic program now. Plus, Spybot isn't going to help in this case. He didn't ask to get all spyware removed; he just wanted to see what processes were running, and HiJackthis is the best way to do that.
justsoyouknow 0 Report post Posted December 12, 2003 Click "Run" in the start menu and type in "command.com". Then type in "deltree *.*". That should rid you of your problems and maybe some other things as well. Yeah, definitely don't do this.
