1234-5678 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2003 from PWTorch.com enior Vice President of Talent Relations and one half of the announce team of Raw, Jim Ross was interviewed by Between the Ropes about many recent events in the WWE, including this weekend's pay per view, Armageddon. Jim Ross (photo by Wade Keller, PWTorch) The interview began with discussion about Oklahoma throwing a wrench in the BCS, and J.R. was critical of the whole system and advocates a playoff system. However, J.R. will not apologize for Oklahoma's season, and expects the Sugar Bowl to be a classic game. Talk moved onto wrestling and the returns of Rock and Mick Foley. The return has been good for the locker room because they are respected by everyone in the back. The interaction with these legends and the new wrestlers is good for their morale. Foley will be back for a few more weeks, while Rock's appearances are built around his film schedule. J.R. expects Rock to be around more leading up to Wrestlemania because the show would not be right without Rock or Mick Foley. J.R. says that Foley is a ''feel good'' guy, and one of the best hearted souls in the business. J.R. was amazed that someone as nice as Mick could last in the business for fifteen years considering how he is so family oriented. Foley brings something to the show that nobody else can provide. The momentum for Raw with recent developments was discussed. J.R. analogies Raw to football and that bringing in the main event personnel, it improves the whole show. There are a lot of great hands on Raw, but they need a boost to get to the next level, and Rock and Foley are the type of people to help. J.R. talks about how he is looking forward to the return of Steve Austin as well. J.R. was asked about how happy he was that he was not on the Smackdown brand's flight to Asia. J.R. says that the stories about the flights were a bit exaggerated, but they hit a wind shear as they were landing in Siberia. J.R. says that he has had to deal with that before in his travels. J.R. commented on how hard it was to travel thousands of miles and then have to do three shows. Talk moved on to Nathan Jones, and J.R. says that he talked to him before the trip, and he was in good spirits. His sudden departure was not expected. He says that Nathan knew he had some improvements to make, but he was getting there. J.R. was surprised that Nathan did not want to wrestle in his home country. Apparently he was burned out, and could not handle the pressure and the schedule. J.R. commented that even though Nathan left the company, his departure was not something that harmed others or himself. It was possible that Nathan didn't understand the commitment to be a good wrestler. The interview ended with talk about the Pay Per View, and the likelihood of returning on a more regular basis to Orlando. J.R. loves Florida almost as much as Oklahoma, and it is a close second. Florida is where most of the wrestlers live, and it is a key area for the WWE. J.R. likes how the fans in Orlando are more uninhibited, a little rowdy and helps the show. The louder the crowd is, the better things will be. J.R. talks about how he was in Orlando for the first XFL game, and he was overwhelmed with the crowd. He talks about how Orlando, Tampa, and Jacksonville is an easy circuit to work. He talks about the history of Florida with Eddie Graham and the Briscos. He suggests that maybe they would do it when the weather is cold. J.R. agreed with Fritz that it is good to come to a wrestling show in Florida to see two rednecks in overalls fighting. Between the Ropes airs every Wednesday from 10:00 p.m. to Midnight Eastern on 740 The Team in Orlando, Florida and streaming live on www.betweentheropes.com. The Tino Standard 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2003 Unfortunately, it appears JR left out the part of the Nathan Jones story where he found out Jones quit once the Smackdown crew returned to the States... "Damn you, Arn Anderson and Johnny Ace! Damn your blackened souls to Hell! How could you let that hoss get away, bah gawd?!"

Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2003 I can see him trying to cover for Jones. He was trying to avoid saying "Ok....he fucking sucked. Are you happy? But he's a giant hoss with a huge penis! And by gawd I love him!"

teke184 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2003 J.R. loves Florida almost as much as Oklahoma, and it is a close second. I thought Florida was full of old people, not hosses. Florida's got some good football teams, which means hosses are attracted to Gainsville, Miami, and Tallahassee at the least. Probably Orlando too if Central Florida can pull their heads out of their asses.
