Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted December 15, 2003 (edited) With the way they are hyping Lesnar as the Greatest WWE Champion ever, and Heyman last week saying how RAW had no direction or a champion to build around like Smackdown did, it seems, at least to me, that it will be Lesnar vs. Goldberg at WM XX, with both men having the titles. I don't see HOW you can have that match without the belts, because it's supposedly going to be the Main Event if it happens, and you can't hype that as the Main Event when they are both coming off title losses. And if they both lost they would really have no reason to face each other anyway. Of course, it's not written in stone that the match will even take place, but it seems like that's what the WWE wants as the marquee match. If this actually happens, it would rate among the stupidest things done in the history of wrestling and that is saying a lot. A non title vs title match at Wrestlemania XX? That would be absolutely atrocious and knowing the WWE they'll probably be thinking pretty hard about it. Or better yet, maybe they can top themselves and we can have ourselves a bout with the belts on the line and have a double DQ. And than we can have a 3rd rate actor as guest referree. Find someway to bury Jericho in the main event and we can call it a night. That's how I'd want to spend $50. The only thing the WWE will gain by doing this is migraine headaches. Edited December 15, 2003 by wildpegasus
Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted December 15, 2003 This whole "Goldberg/Lesnar can't happen without both men having the belts" has now become a moot point, and I see that remaining as such (i.e. Goldberg is not getting the title back) until after Mania XX, but then again I'd be surprised if Goldberg is still around by then. Guest Choken One Report post Posted December 16, 2003 There are too many X factors here This all depends actually, believe it or not on someone not even remotely involved here... Steve Austin. Yes. Steve Austin. We all know WWE is hopeful that Austin can have ONE last hurrah at Mania (Although I don't feel it's neccesary) and let's face it, They will NOT do the Stupid rumored Six Man Tag Match. There are only three people Austin is going to return to the ring for... +Hulk Hogan (Not fucking Likely) +Goldberg (Most Likely) +Chris Jericho (Outside Shot) Jericho is the best choice in my opinon merely because he's Chris Fucking Jericho but Austin never geled with Jericho when he was healthy and they never connected well in the ring, So I wouldn't expect Austin to go through such an ardorous return just to wrestle a guy he's fought many times over and that he never had a close bond with (such as THE ROCK or Foley)... Goldberg is the best Bet here. If Austin decides he doesn't want to do the match, Sadly that would force WWE to go with the supposed DREAM MATCH. Is that a good thing? Well, kind of. I seriously doubt WWE is willing to blow a cash cow with the TITLE VS TITLE match at Mania with Brock/Goldberg... Whatever hype job can we have with those guys...so yes, I expect Goldberg to somehow regain the title one way or another. That would mean, Theoricitally, Chris Benoit would be next in line for the title. Likely, Vince's OTHER golden Boy would get the other slot (Angle). So, If it's gonna be Benoit/Angle at Mania... I want Angle to be the champion going in here. I'd love if they had Benoit/Lesnar II at Rumble with the Match going to a Draw. That would be Benoit's FINAL shot at the title against Lesnar. However, Mr. Angle fresh from his return at the Rumble where he lasted 45 minutes convinces his former Agent that he is the worthy #1 title contender. Benoit wishes him luck...and Angle offers him the first shot at the gold. Brock/Angle on a Smackdown!...They go 15 minutes...Team Lesnar tries to interfere but Benoit chases them away...The Match ends when Morgan tosses the Chair to Benoit and Benoit in his effort to catch the chair falls back into Angle and hits him with the Chair. Benoit is stunned...He still has a hold of the chair and Lesnar stares at him and grins at him. Benoit has the AMPLE opportunity to WHACK brock with the chair...he sighs and walks out. Lesnar goes for the cover...but Angle kicks out. Angle fights his way to a Angle Slam for the WWE Title. Benoit offers his hand to congraduate Angle...Angle shoots a pissed look and points to his title and goes "Mine". The Next week...Angle cuts his promo as Benoit comes out once again to congraduate Angle...Angle showing a heel streak says "You know Benoit, I thought about that promise I made to you last week and well, to be honest...I freaking change my mind!"... Benoit is STUNNED. Heyman comes out, Accompied by Brock and his Goon Squad. Heyman books a SPECIAL Tag team match with Angle and Benoit against Brock and TBS. Angle and Benoit have problems getting along as usual. The match ends when Angle retailiates against Benoit and "accidently" hits Benoit as Lesnar covers him for the win (Brock "FINALLY" can claim he pinned Benoit although there would be a certain asterrisk). Paul Heyman says he notices the tension between Brock and Benoit and Brock and Kurt and Kurt and Benoit...So he decided for the NWO PPV...To have an Special FOUR Way Dance for the title...he has unsuspended Hardcore Holly for the PPV. Why? Because he thinks Brock has gotten "soft" and wants to give him a challenge for the PPV. So it's an Four Way Dance between Angle/Lesnar/Benoit/Holly. Holly, as expected goes HELL BENT on Lesnar...while Benoit and Angle work a clinicial match. The finish comes when Holly "crashes" Brock on his neck...Lesnar sells the injury like death...Holly enjoys the feeling of success...They load him away...Holly watches Benoit and Angle go at it and shakes his head and walks out and high fives the fans...He even laughs at Brock as he walks away... Brock grins as Holly walks past him and slowly rolls off the streacher and German suplexes Holly right on the streacher, Laying him out for good. Lesnar sneaks into the ring and Quickly F5's Angle...Benoit is unaware that Brock has returned...He walks into the F5 but counters it into a Crossface as the crowd ENRUPTS. Brock struggles to withstand the pain...JUST as he begins to Tap...Angle pulls out the ref...Angle grabs a Steel Chair...he swings at Benoit but he ducks and whops Lesnar. Angle pissed is thrown into a series of Germans. Benoit goes for the 4th German but as he lifts Angle, Lesnar pulls down Benoits leg and Angle land right on TOP on Benoit's bent body for the stunning three count... Brock is shocked and so is Angle. Angle walks away with the title as Benoit emerges and captures Brock and locks him into the ULTRA-CROSSFACE and Brock goes a tappy tappy in total complete pain...Benoit angerilly cries "YOU SON OF A BITCH! THAT WAS MY TITLE! DAMN YOU LESNAR!". Benoit is finally restrained and forced away...Brock is unconcious. The Next Smackdown...Heyman announces he has NO idea who should face the WWE Champion Kurt Angle. Brock and Benoit blew their chances and Holly left the match... Benoit comes out and doesn't even say a word...He pulls Heyman down to his knees and clutches him into the crossface. He does the Mick Foley approach and DEMANDS a title shot with Angle...Heyman reluctantly can't do it... Angle arrives and convinces Benoit to let go... "Benoit, You will NOT get a shot at the freaking title by attacking Paul Heyman...If anyone is going to give the title shot out...It's gonna be me...and Damn It benoit, I'm going to give you the FINAL chance to win this title and to beat me in the middle of the ring at Wrestlemania XX. Madison Square Garden. In the contract it WILL read that YOU will NEVER under any circumstances receive another WWE or World Title shot for that matter, so don't think about jumping ship either Benoit. I know better then anyone else in the world that you are without QUESTION the toughest SOB to ever wrestle and I know how much you want this title, how close you've been...The road you've taken to get here....But Benoit...It's your FINAL chance. You can't blow this one Chris...and come Mania...You will see something out of Kurt Angle that you've never seen before, An ugly vicious monster...I could go in there and we can have the most techichal match of all time but not this time Benoit...This will be a god damn dogfight. I know that Benoit, You will have NO problem with that. So there it is Benoit...Me and You. For the WWE Title. At the Garden. WM20. Your final CHANCE. " Benoit and Angle train extenstively for this match...We see Angle at his High School in Pittsburgh training...Benoit at Stu Hart's Dundgeon... We have packages of Kurt Angle's short Illistratious career and Benoit's long and weary road to WMXX. Two Weeks before Mania...Paul Heyman, in the interest of keeping Benoit and Angle FRESH for the Match will give them the next two weeks off and has issue a Zero Tolerance clause. If either men envoke ANY physical activity with each other, the Match will be canceled. Either men are protrayed as Heels or Faces but merely Souls seeking their destiny. The week before Mania...Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit, dress sharply in their finest clothes have a "Press Conference" (think Old School here). Paul Heyman hypes each men and they have a boxing style staredown. No Punches are thrown...Just total and absolute Respect. The Night of the Event. The Match is Unquestionably the MAIN EVENT. The Challenge enters first...No fancy enterance or anything...He simply walks down that short aisle with a determination that never been seen so openly. He enters the ring, no pomp or anything...He simply walks to his corner and does last minute excercises...Loosing up. Angle, the champion gets a glitzly enterance with a delay. Angle just does his usual Jaunt in the ring with the spin and He stands in the corner with the Large Title proudly around his waist with his Gold Medals. However, Vince McMahon suddenly emerges from the backstage and enters the ring...He doesn't say anything as he simply stands in the middle of the ring... Vince: Ladies and Gentleman...Tonight's Special Gues Referee... :Music Whines: Bret Hart...in Black pants and the classic Hart Foundation shirt walks to an ENORMOUS pop and Benoit and Angle each have a double take. Bret enters the ring slowly...Milking it. He goes face to face with Vince and Shakes his hand. Vince leaves...Bret then shakes Senior Ref. Earl Hebnar's hand as well. Bret goes over and takes the belt from Angle and checks each men down. Angle and Benoit have a staredown as Bret proudly restates the rules (ala WM12)... The Match begins. After 30 minutes of Beauty and Perfection...Angle FINALLY gets Benoit down for the Angle Lock and even goes to the SIT DOWN lock which has yet to be countered. Benoit fights through the agony and gets Out. Angle sets up for the Angle slam but Benoit forces his weight down on him and lands on Angle's Back...he locks the Crossface and jerks tightly...as the crowd enrupts to a fever pitch...Angle mounts himself up and benoit continues to clutch with the Cross face...Benoit...tired and wearly slips down to Angle's knees and recalling last month...He buckles down Angle's knees. He puts Angle into a Angle Lock as well...Angle tries to dismount again but this time as Angle stands...Benoit sweeps the standing leg of Angle and Angle falls on his back...Benoit still holds the other leg and it's there Benoit gains an epiphany...He glances at Bret...whom is crounched down asking Angle if he submits... He sighs for one last time and slaps on the Sharpshooter after a long struggle with Angle...Angle withstands it briefly but softly taps the Canvas as Bret Raises Benoit's hand in Victory. Bret hugs Benoit in the middle of the ring as he straps the title around his waist. Suddenly...The ENTIRE company from Raw and Smackdown alike arrive to the ring and Benoit is hoisted upon their shoulders...Angle finally stands up and hugs Benoit. They let Benoit down...Bret begins to leave but Benoit stops him and pulls him back in and then They raise him in the air. Now, Vince McMahon finally enters the ring and he shakes Bret's hand again... Bret hugs and shakes hands until he comes face to face with Shawn. Shawn shrugs and jerks Bret into his arms as tears flow down Bret's Face... The show fades away with a shot of Bret and Benoit raising their hands to the crowd.
