Gert T 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2004 There is no reason for everybody to be upset. If you're a USC fan you can go out an buy a "USC 2003 National Champions" shirt. There will be no asterisk or say "AP" in front of it. Same for the OU-LSU winner. Sure it would be great if the winner of the Sugar played USC, but we can't have it happen (which is bullshit) so let's all get along. As I've said to my Dad (who erroneously believes Jason White's one bad game negates his 40 TD's and Heisman win) that the NCAA is just as much as at fault at this. Make USC go up to Seattle and play a conference title game against Washington State, just like OU and LSU had to do.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2004 You need 12 teams or more to have a conference title game. The Pac 10, just like the Big 10 and ACC currently have less than 12. Next year, the ACC will be split into two conference halfs and teams like FSU and Miami will have to play a conference title game. The Big 12 dug their own hole by making the conference 12 teams. The Pac 10 cannot be ordered to split into two conferences of 5 just so the Big 12 and SEC feel better. If the Pac 10 gets two more teams, it will split and a title game would be played. Until then, it doesn't have enough teams to warrant the split so it doesn't warrant a title game.

And the reason is with less teams you play a higher percentage of the teams in your conference already.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2004 Cotton Bowl: SEC represent, mofo. Eli wants to go out big before heading off to the NFL. Peach Bowl: Game of the Bowl Season perhaps. It's a lot closer than the rankings indicate. Whatever, Tennessee's going to fuck Clemson up. Fiesta Bowl: This Ell Roberson situation has me even happier that I picked Ohio State. What happened to the reports that he was arrested? They just kinda vanished. EDIT: Fuck, I picked Kansas State. Goddammit, I could have sworn I picked Ohio State. Fucking post-Big XII title game hubris...

Yeah I know the rule about 12 teams, but I was just arguing the point that you can't take away everything Oklahoma did this year because they lost a conference title game which all teams do not have to play in. And with the less teams having a better chance to play everybody, the Big Ten has consistently shown how much that works.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2004 http://www.soonersports.com/ViewArticle.db...00&ATCLID=30823 Here's a good article about how LSU and OU basically don't give a damn about the Rose Bowl or it's winner.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2004 Oh, this is rich... Just listen to Sooners star Teddy Lehman talk about the Rose Bowl. ``To me, it's just another game,'' the All-American linebacker said Wednesday. ``I don't see how you can lose to a very, very average team and still be considered No. 1 in the country. But that's just me.'' Yeah, pal, well I don't see how you can lose to ANYONE by FOUR TOUCHDOWNS and still be considered No. 1 in the country. But that's just me. ANKLELOCK 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2004 WTF??!! Dama, you got that off the Sooners official site, that has nothing to do with USC OR LSU! And Teddy Lehman is just angry that the WHOLE WORLD saw the real #1 team last night.
OldSchoolWrestling 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2004 Why would they do something like that!? Elevate Michigan to #1? That'd create even more controversy. Oh and.......Ell Roberson's been arrested! SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Kansas State star Ell Roberson was cleared to play Friday in the Fiesta Bowl, the day after a woman accused the Wildcats' quarterback of sexual assault. Whether Roberson played in Friday night's game against Ohio State was to be a game-time decision by coach Bill Snyder, athletic director Tim Weiser said in a statement. "A through review of allegations against senior quarterback Ell Roberson has led the university to conclude that no criminal act occurred," Weiser said. cbs.sportsline.com

Why punish the kid if he didn't do it??? If the school said he didn't do it, that should be enough for the coach. Oh and let it rest Dama. If OU wins, they share the title. If LSU wins, they share the title. Let it go.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2004 The state of Oklahoma is 0-1 as Ok St made a run but came up short against Ole Miss
ANKLELOCK 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2004 Clemson and UT are putting on an offensive clinic. Clausen already has like over 200 yards and 2 TDs midway through the 2nd. And Clemson just scored on a FUMBLEROOSKI~!
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2004 You know, I think this half is NEVER going to end.
ANKLELOCK 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2004 Clausen has 252 yards and 2 TDs at half. And UT's best wideout returns from suspension in the second half. Scary.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2004 Had to listen to the OSU/Ole Miss game on the radio at work. Twas' a valiant effort by OSU. Great game from what I heard. And like the announcer said "Neither team has anything to be ashamed of."

Well seems how OU lost in a game to a very good team that has almost had there number every time they've played and USC lost to an unranked team that by all means shouldn't have been able to hold there jock......hmmmm........... Plus OU did go undefeated in their season. If there conference ran like USC's they wouldn't have had to play that game and would've won their conference. But you know...they want you to earn it by beating the second best team in the conference rather than just handing it to you.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2004 And I want just ONE thing explained. Yes OU lost that game to K-State. Yes OU lost that game very badly. But I want to know HOW some of you can act like they are the worst team ever and totally forget there season. You act like that game against K-State was the way they played ALL season. But it wasn't. So HOW can you sit there and act like OU is a shitty team that can do nothing against a good team? How? They've proven throughout there entire season that they are a good team. Yet some of you act like they just went without a win this season.
ANKLELOCK 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2004 I NEVER thought I would say this about a Phil Fulmer Tennessee team, but they look like a Steve Spurrier Florida team. Shotgun with 5 wideouts and the QB on pace for 450 yards.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2004 My god, the Vols just killed an entire quarter and got NOTHING out of it. That could be a backbreaker. I repeat, COULD. I don't think it is, but damn that hurts.
ANKLELOCK 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2004 What a screwjob. Not only was that a TD but Clausen did absolutely nothing to deserve a penalty. What conference are these officials from?

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2004 Looks like the Vols have lost to Clemson 24-14. I'm not shocked since Clemson came in hot and Tenn came in unsure of the word offense.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2004 Hmm......if K-State gets it handed to them in this game then that may just prove that the Big XII title game was an abnormality and a fluke. B/c let's face it.......OU is 10x better than Ohio State. And jeez........you'd think Ohio State won the game with that touchdown celebration.
ANKLELOCK 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2004 Oh God, here we go. CAN WE GO ONE GAME WITHOUT DAMA SPOUTING CRAP ABOUT OU. NOBODY CARES!!!!!!! KSTATE > OU NO QUESTION ABOUT IT!
HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2004 Hmm......if K-State gets it handed to them in this game then that may just prove that the Big XII title game was an abnormality and a fluke. B/c let's face it.......OU is 10x better than Ohio State. I don't know...out of the 4 ranked team games they played, they went 2-2. However they only lost by 4 in both games(vs Texas and Oklahoma State) while just trouncing Nebraska(38-9) and Oklahoma(35-7) so if they won those 2 games that they lost by 4, they could've easily been 13-1. Odds are it probably was a fluke but I wouldn't completely write them out.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2004 LSU, USC and OU WERE ALL EQUAL LET IT GO EVERYONE! I'm so tired of hearing about it. The title is split no matter what, it no longer freakin matters!
