Your take on ric flair 2002

Let me start off by saying that Ric Flair is my favorite wrestler of all time.  I started watching wrestling in the late 70's early 80's and his charisma and matches made me an instant fan.

I was very happy to see him return in any form, though due to age I prefer he not wrestle.

With that being said, I wonder if he can continue to get over as a face owner.  I hate seeing him dancing around like a fool, I hate the overuse of Whoo (or Wooo if you will) and I hate seeing him kiss people's asses.

I enjoyed his match with Vince and his match with Undertaker but I don't want to see him wrestling too often.  I don't want another evil owner ala Vince, but Flair's heel promos were always freaking awesome.

Just a mini-rant.  Let me know your take on The Man.

I don't really like the concept of heels and faces.  Maybe Flair should become the actual owner of a wrestling company.

he shouldn't wrestle, he needs to just be the owner, owner vs. wrestler feuds are boring now.

Personally, I think he's really bad at playing this owner part.  Vince may have gotten really self-indulgent with this crap, but he still plays the part of the heel owner extremely well.  Flair is just obnoxious in this role.  I'm eagerly awaiting a heel turn or him taking a much smaller on-air role.  What he would do otherwise for the WWF is not my concern; I just want him to either stop doing what he's doing now or get better at it.

I don't like how they have overused his whooo or wooo or whatever the hell you call it. They put it in his theme music and ruined it.

Ric Flair has had great moments on Raw:

The Kid Rock Desire video speech was great

Whenever Flair is the voice of reason he is good

Flair vs Undertaker

The Bad moments:

Styling and Profiling with too much vigor

Knee Drop on a beer can

the whole Austin signing celebration

Ric Flair is a great talent, probably the best on the mic, but when he gets too excited he looks like a characture of his legacy.  At this point he is nothing more than taking Vince McMahon's role as the "Owner of Raw" persona, and adding his catch phrases to it.  I really don't care for the owner persona and would rather see Flair as the "Savior of Wrestling" instead.  I think Flair would be a great manager or leader of a stable, and would like to see his team vs Paul E team at Survivor Series!!!

the kneedrop on the can was the best piece of wwf television since WM17

I have liked Flair since his return and he has provided me with many memorable moments since coming back.  Flair's role now seems to be running Raw and occasionally wrestling at big shows, usually against big name.  That role seems to suit him well, although I would like to see a little bit more of Arn Anderson as his sidekick.

BTW, the kneedrop on the beer can was hilarious, but I thought it was funnier when he did it to the microphone.

I think the current Flair is good most of the times. I just think we are longing for the days when Flair ruled as champion. Those days are gone. It would friggin rule if Flair just brought back the NWA though or something to screw over wwf fans. Of course it may tank in the ratings as last year proved with the conditioned wwf fans.

Flair knee dropping the can was funny but not in a hahaha funny it was that man lost his mind funny. :)

Flair is the greatest wrestler of all-time in my opinion. Although he isn't the best anymore, he's still good. Flair really never seemed like a guy who would own half of a company (storyline wise). He was more of a playboy. At some point I'll like to see Flair have at least a few more good matches with SCSA, Angle, Jericho & even HHH.

there were 2 promos of his early this year that were absolutely GOLDEN, and will probably remain untouched for the rest of the year: when he begged vince to not bring in the new world older, and when he made his goodbye speech in virginia (before changing his mind, of course).  flair was pure emotion in both of these, that kind of pathos is unheard of in wrestling.

that being said, it was all downhill from there.  he had more mic time than anyone on raw this week, and failed to do anything that didn't bore the hell out of me. going crazy after austin stunned vince was embarrassing to watch.  so he's really a big hit or big miss guy for me right now.

Shouldn't Flair's role as an owner to do what's best for his business, not get into feuds with wrestlers?  This would mean sometimes siding with a heel and somtetimes with a face depending on what would be best for the fans/business.

Flair has been on again, off again since his return.  This is not all his fault, it took 2 shows before he was just another part of the show after his debut and until Jan. he really didn't have much to do.  But his babyface character is kinda lame IMO.  I like the guy, but as he is right now, I don't see how he adds much to the show, besides being in long promos.  And if he's going to cut long promos, they need to let the Nature Boy loose to do his thing rather than the watered down "WWF Brand" promos that he's done.

I've wondered why Flair has been kissing the WWF product's ass.  He should bring back the NWA and crown a new champion.

bring back the nwa? it's still around. Flair doesn't want the responsibility of running a promotion. Vince would crush them before they got off the ground, all the big stars are locked into longterm contracts. the old saying is true: you can't fight city hall (or wrestling monoplies.)

I always preferred a heel Flair. His current character seems so watered down and dull.

I could watch 2 hours of Flair dancing around as long as I knew that he would end it with a kneedrop to a can.

Flair is under WWF contract right now. How the hell would he run another promotion in real life to compete with the WWF? I think people forget sometimes that Flair is just another wrestler under WWF contract and not a real half owner. I don't know if bringing back the nwa in a storyline would work, but I wish they would recognize the WCW brand name instead of just ignoring the way they do. They have done a great job of ignoring their greatest acquisition.

Does anyone besides me laugh like hell when Flair knee drops the mat (or beer can) for no apparent reason? I think hes using the "IM A NUTJOB" angle from WCW. lol

If he doesn't stop it, i'm going to put him in the trunk of my car, take him out to the desert, beat him down, and then leave him for dead.

Ah, I liked the crazy Ric persona.  I laughed my frickin' ass off when he stripped down to his boxers and handcuffed himself to the ropes on Nitro in 2000.

That was in 1999 during his feud with Piper, but yeah, it was mildly amusing. Maybe he can go nuts again and find Scott Steiner in an insane asylum  :P

I like what they're doing with Flair at the moment, but I agree that he's getting a bit too much TV time. He needs to be in the background a bit more, so he doesn't become overexposed...figuratively speaking of course.

flair in the insane asylum was too funny.

when he got everyone to do 'The Nature Boy' Strut, i was in tears.

it also showed you how much he loved WCW, he was willing to make an ass out of himself.

Flair is really hit-or-miss today. When he dances arounds, struts, and acts like an idiot, it's almost painful to watch.

Ric EXUDES class. He LOOKS classy. Why he doesn't stick with that is beyond me.
