Down parts ways with Elektra

DOWN have parted ways with Elektra Records, reaching constant problems in terms of marketing and support for their records. For DOWN fans, maybe this will be instrumental in seeing a third album from the lads from NOLA.

You can also download an interview that lasts prolly about 20 minutes with Phil Anselmo. I just finished typing out the part where the interview tells Phil that Elektra and Down have parted ways, but due to my stupidity I closed off the browser and didn't feel like typing it all again. I will paraphrase basically what he says. Basically, this is what Phil says when the interviewer lets him know that Down and Elektra have parted.

"We've what?....This is the first I've heard of this.....This is great news....I'm fucking thrilled!"

When asked if the focus would return back to Down and if we would see a new album or DVD, Phil replies:

"I'll definetely give it a maybe."

Personally, I would like for Phil to switch the focus back to Down. I enjoy Superjoint Ritual, but I'd rather have a new Down album or DVD than 3 new SJR albums.

I heard that interview, I got 20 bucks on Phil dying before 2004.

If he does, I get 20 bucks and he wont release anymore shitty music.

Has anyone heard Damage Plan yet? It's Vinnie and Dimebag's new band. Awful. It sounds like what an album after Reinventing the Steel would sound like, only no Phil. Crap crap crap.

Down really doesn't need to make another album, because it can really only hope to be as good as the second one, which still doesn't hold a candle to Nola. I wouldn't object TOO terribly if it came out, but I'm not expecting anything stellar from them.

Yeah. I bought Use Once and Destroy on recommendation from my cousin, who I owed a favor to, plus he was with me in the store, and sort of guilt-tripped me into getting it. I thought it was pretty awful, really. Just boring angry ugly guys doing the SAME stuff over and over. No real beat, not much in the way of changes or anything meaningful.

Don't worry, Kotz. The metalheads hate SJR too.

What have the Pantera boys become? Cowboys and Vulgar are great albums, Trendkill has its moments of awesomeness, and nothing else is really too bad...except Reinventing The Steel. They just don't know when to quit...

Kinda funny how the only old-school metal bands that are still awesome are Maiden and Slayer, eh? Metallica's sucked since '91, Megadeth's broken up due to Dave's arm, Exodus disbanded because Paul died...damn. Except for Motörhead, who will forever be awesome, and Maiden and Slayer, nobody else is around. Well, sure, Priest...but most of their stuff isn't that good to begin with.

Sorry, but I don't find a whole lot Priest's work to be too good MUSICALLY. Fuck, I really don't even like many Priest tunes until Ripper became the vocalist, because the music seemed to finally get dark and METAL-y.

SJR has some good songs, but its sooooooooooo repetitive.

I find the same thing happening with Hatebreed. I'll listen to their singles but the rest of the album is just a blur of the same shit.
