That's not necessarily being a nerd, Dama. If you're someone who does what he wants, does what he's into, and is still a good-hearted guy, you're just being true to yourself.

However, if you dub that "nerdiness", so be it.

It's possible to be popular, cool and genuine. I am.

What a coinkydink. So am I!

Is it possible to get you shipped here overnight express, so I find you under my tree on Christmas? I wouldn't have to ask for anything else, ever.

Just wanted to add something: you're hot. You're automatically popular, no matter what.

Not true. I've known some pretty attractive people who were on the outs with mostly everyone, either for reputation or general bitchy/dickish-ness. I will agree that many are superficial, though.

I don't really know why people feel the need to label themselves as nerds (or whatever) Its like you're conforming to some High school class system.

*pulls out hair*

Being a nerd is a good thing IMO! It means that you are a genuine nice guy that is in to whatever thing you're into that society deems "uncool" be it video games, star wars, Anime, Fantasy, D&D, and whatnot. You don't care what they say. You don't care that some people may look down on you for it. Fuck them. You're having fun doing it. You're surrounded by others that are having fun doing it and are having fun with you. You don't need to be "popular" or "cool" because those people aren't genuine anyways. They aren't the kind of people you want to associate with. They're assholes that will turn on each other at the drop of a hat. You don't need that. You've got real friends here. You've got genuine friends in your "nerd bracket" so to speak. So why do you need to be popular or cool(which are just illusions anyways)? You don't. You're a nice guy that is having fun doing what he loves and nobody can take it away from you.

That's what being a nerd is to me.

I dub it nerdiness because I think it's funny. When I was growing up being called a nerd was like a big put down. It basically said "You're not good enough" and then as I got older I started getting into things that the mass public deemed "nerdy" and I was like "I like this. What's so nerdy about this?" then I met other people that called themselves nerds......but they didn't see it as a put down. They saw it as a funny little way to poke back at those jackasses that tried to use it as a put down. Hell there's even a roleplaying comic named "Dork Tower" and it's hilarious. So I was like "Yeah I'm a nerd.....and I'm proud of it!" so no I don't see it as an insult or anything. I see it as this great thing........being a nerd is just plain awesome. I can't really describe why I choose to call myself that. That's they way I could best put it.

See you guys are still following the society standard of "Being a nerd is bad" so that's why you're like "No Dama.....don't call yourself that! Don't put yourself down!" and I'm just like "But I'm not! Being a nerd isn't a bad thing!" See what I'm saying? Don't think of a nerd as something that the general public describes it as.....think of it like I described it........because that's what all nerds are.

Hell yeah! Those guys were awesome! See those are the kind of friends you want. They were cool guys that were loyal and wouldn't treat you like shit. The jocks and the popular people were pieces of trash.

You'll find that, being out in the real world, there's a lot less labelling than in high school.

WHAT? I thought that high school and real life were like mirror images of each other? If that's not true...then why do they tell us that high school prepares us for real life? I don't know what to think anymore.

Because if you can survive high school, you can survive anything.

I've been out of High School for 2 years......maybe I just keep running across the bad crowd. Dammit what is it with me and finding the wrong people. I'm like a magnet for jerk offs.

I'm just trying to get you guys to realize that being a nerd isn't a put down or something that should be looked as a bad thing.

Yes it is a label but I think it's a funny label and that's why I label myself it.

Well it was fun....but now I have to go to work. I'll catch up at 6 when I get off.

For now I go and fight for the rights of every decent hard working nerd........at Enterprise Rent a Car.....because that's where I work........*runs out the door*

Eh, a lot of people are out for themselves. You find out who your true friends are in the long run. I've run across a lot of people who just tried to buddy up to me because they wanted/needed something, but then I know who my true friends are. I've known my best friend since I was 3 and never have had a blowout with him over anything. If I'm in a bind, I know I can count on him.

They told you that? I must have cut that day. Matter of fact I cut most days.

They also tell us that the friends we make now are going to be our friends for the rest of our lives.
