Guest BobBacklundRules Report post Posted December 30, 2003 So my family spent a night at a casino about an hour away from home and while walking through the "hall of fame" which has autograghs from every performer that has played there I saw one plaque that had pictures of WWF Jobbers in a wrestling ring. Some of the names included Val Venis, Al Snow, Mosh and Test. Here's my question; was this show a private house show, or did someone book all WWF guys to perform? OldSchoolWrestling 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2003 It would probably help if you said where you lived, where the casino was, etc.
Guest BobBacklundRules Report post Posted December 30, 2003 (edited) Grand Casino in Mille Lacs, Minnesota. On an indian reservation right in the middle of nowhere. Edit: Now that I think about it, a local indy fed uses a ring that has the Grand Casino logo on the canvas and I think they've taped a few shows there. But the WWF show wasn't related to SDW, the indy fed. Edited December 30, 2003 by BobBacklundRules
OldSchoolWrestling 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2003 Looks like an indy show: 3-4-99 Mille Lacs, MN at Grand Casino 5:30 SHOW -- Scotty Zappa w/ Mortimer Plumtree vs. Tony DeNucci. Solid match, but way too much interference from Plumtree for my tastes. Scotty got great heel heat. A "Scotty sucks!" chant started several times. DeNucci went to the top, but Mortimer tripped him up, leading to Scotty scoring the pin while using the second rope for leverage. Derrick "Starfire" Dukes vs. Charlie "Thunderblood" Norris. Norris got a good pop, perhaps having something to do with him being Native American. Bad match, they did next to nothing. A "Boring!" chant broke out. Norris gets the win in a short match after hitting the big boot followed by a double leg roll. Wild Bill Irwin vs. Lenny Lane. Lane got a nice pop, as he was probably the first guy most of the people even recognized. Irwin threatened to leave before the match started, almost getting counted out. They actually did a criss-cross, which I haven't seen in ages. They did a good job of working the crowd. At one point, the somewhat flabby Irwin and chiseled Lane compared physiques, which was pretty funny. Lane gets the win with a rollup. "Slick" Mick introduced special guests Mad Dog and Butcher Vachon. The Vachon brothers got a standing ovation. Mad Dog talked about his years in wrestling, even talking about how he won a gold medal in the '48 Olympics. He also talked about the days when he "beat up our governor" which was funny. When the crowd got a bit noisy, he said in his gravely voice, "Shut up, I'm doing the talking!" The crowd absolutely ate it up, and you could tell the Vachons were enjoying it. Butcher didn't say anything because, as Mick said on his behalf, "Mad Dog said it all." Test vs. Mosh. Neither one of the WWF stars had their entrance music played. (In fact, they only music all night for either show was AC/DC's "Back in Black." Nothing wrong with that, but it gets monotonous after a while.) They did a lot of stalling and playing to the crowd. Mosh slapped on a side headlock. A crowd member apparently got bored with and heckled them. Mosh retorted, "Do you know what spot we're doing?!" They did some spots that apparently they weren't supposed to. (Check out the latest installment of Wrestling Radio. Mick explains that Test and Most were supposed to keep it clean for the early crowd because there were a lot of kids in the audience.) Anyway, Test did a go-behind early, but Mosh acted like, well, you know, Test was trying to invade his personal space. Test got on the mic and called Mosh a "bald queer." Mosh responded by implying that Test was "doing favors" for Mr. McMahon. Apparently, Mick sighed his displeasure at the adult stuff and Mosh responded by calling him "Dick" and giving him a whack on the head with the microphone. Later, Test wore down Mosh with a headlock. Mosh made his comeback and got the win with the silla (Mosh pit?). Battle Royal. This included both Minnesota based talent and WWF guys. And in a somewhat of a surprise, Lenny Lane of WCW also competed. It's not really that big a deal since Lane is an opening match type guy in WCW at best. But I never thought I'd actually see WCW and WWF guys in the ring at the same time. Winner: Test. Other guys in order of elimination: Mosh, Primetime, Derrick Dukes, Hellraiser, Zappa, Lane, Norris, Irwin, Ragin' Red Tyler, Ricky "The Prophet" Rice/Scorpio (at same time), DeNucci, Val Venis/Al Snow. Test won by clotheslining Al and Val (who both got great reactions, especially Val) over the top at the same time. Venis and Snow brawled after the match to set up their Intercontinental match at the 8:30 show. Short show, lasting around 90 minutes. Not a great show overall

Guest BobBacklundRules Report post Posted December 31, 2003 Where the hell did you find those results? It does look like a SDW indy show with the casino paying for some WWF names to come in. Thanks for finding that.
