Stuff You'd Like For This Year's Rumble

Recommended Posts

Well, if Benoit does win the Rumble and gets to go to Wrestlemania against Brock they have to show training footage of Benoit and Lesnar preparing for battle. Maybe even a little documentary. This is how I'd like it to go:

Benoit who is now designated as the common hard working man who has sacraficed stuff such as his family to get where he is goes back to his homeland of Alberta, Canada. He needs to be distracted from the hustle and temptations of the modern world. No cellphone, no TV, no heaters, no radio, no people, no anything. Just some dumbells, a fellow trainer, rocks, snow, wind and a cold beaten up old shack. To survive Lesnar he himself has to toughen up. He has to survive the toughest of elements -- Ice cold Canadian weather with a windshield that would make any other mere mortal cower away in fear. It's the only thing that can challenge him to be at his utmost best. Benoit does his 20 rep breathing squats out in the frigid cold, strips the weight down again and just laughs at them. He straps 20 pds to each arm and proceeds to chop for hours on end. He does his running with 14 pd boots on through 3 to 4 feet of snow only stopping for an instant to pick up rocks to than run with. He eats nothing but the purest foods. Than to top it all off, footage is shown of his mentor Bret Hart torturing Benoit in the new dungeon showing him merciless techniques that could possably defeat the baddest man on the planet. Brock Lesnar.

A candid discussion is than shown between Benoit and his wife Woman.

Woman -- "Before I could understand. There were reasons to fight but I don't understand this. Why? Why, Chris?

Benoit -- "I just have to. The fighting spirit is too strong."

Woman -- "Chris. We have a child. You have two other children that look up to you so much. What if you get hurt? You've seen what he did to your best friend Eddie. He's never going to wrestle again. He's crippled Gowan, the Undertaker and anyone else he's put his hands on. You've heard what everyone's said. He's indestructable. You're gonna cripple yourself. You can't win Chris. You just can't win. **cries**

Benoit -- "You married a fighter. I can't help it. It's what I do. Without the fight there is nothing. I may as well be nothing. Perhaps I have no chance but the one thing I know is that I'm to give it my all and to do that I know I have to look death in the eye. I'll fight to I can't fight nomore. But in doing that the thing the thing Lesnar has to realise is that he himself will have to be willing to die. I won't kid you. I don't know what'll happen Nancy. I'm sorry. **Benoit leaves to go on his skidoo all the time thinking about his past memories. Seeing Dynamite wrestle for the first time, Dynamite giving him his wrestling boots, winning the IWGP Jr. title, winning the ECW tag straps, Lesnar destroying Eddie's career and so on.**

**The Doucumentary ends with Benoit climbing up a freezing cold mountain where at the very top he stretches his arms out and hollers at the top of his lungs..."Broooooooock"

I thought you were serious at the start, but goddamn

WP, I like your intent, but that wouldn't work. It would just end up as a bad soap opera.

It's not serious. I was just inspired from Rocky IV

Now I feel like an idiot.

Carry on.

Don't feel too bad. We've all made worse mistakes :)

I still think since SD! has No Way Out, Benoit will be paired with a Raw guy as the final two and he'll get eliminated. Then Heyman can gloat about how it was his "last shot" and Brock can talk about Benoit will always be no. 2, but never the man.

And it's pro wrestling, they'll figure out a way to get him a title match at WM (If's they're going that way)

I too think a RAW guy will win it, if only because Brock, a SD guy, won it last year. RAW will want the main event for this year's Mania. The only trouble is that I can't think of a RAW face aside from HBK (who will likely get the title shot AT the Rumble) who is in the position to win the Rumble. RVD? Booker T? Please. Maybe Goldberg but I find that unlikely to happen (just like his planned match with Lesnar). Of course, if HBK wins the title, then it goes into a whole other loop but the same problem persists.

Randy Orton. It'd be stupid to bet against him.

I considered that, but then there's Foley. If he's facing Orton at Mania it'll be a featured match but not the main event or for the title.

Now, to deal with those already in or strongly considered to be in the Rumble:

Benoit as #1 is not really a good thing. He'll probably be in there for 30 minutes at least (or should be) but I'll be shocked if he's one of the final four, or even... I'll stop now. Angle is a lock for one of the final four. There's no way he's not after that speech about the troops. Goldberg, for all intents and purposes, should be in the final four, and if he isn't then it's just another indicator that he's gone after XX. With Cena, I'm less sure, but he will put on a good show, either by being there for more than 20 minutes or eliminating a few people. You also can't forget Kane.

The Rumble match is probably why I consider RR my favorite PPV, but this year the featuring of bleached blond wrestlers is really wrecking my vibe. Just like last year, which nearly prevented me from ordering, but thankfully that guy totally fell apart that night and was shunted down the card ever since, and is now jobbing in openers.

Goldberg doesn't have to be in the final four if they use my idea and it also keeps his heat...

Likely it'll be 2 SD and 2 Raw...

Benoit(1) and Angle(24) and Orton(30) and the annual "WTF" final four superstar Mark Henry.

I'd perfer an final four of Benoit, Angle, Eddy and Jericho myself. and have Heyman come out and announce the rules are changed and it's now a 4 way elimination dance...

Here's how I would do the rumble..

15 Raw/15 Smackdown

The rumble goes normally with 2 minute intervals and Prematch 15 second interviews.

It gets down to the final four but I would book it so that it wasn't all smackdown guys or all raw guys. I would book it so that there were 2 Raw/2 Smackdown or 3 Smackdown/1 Raw.

The final two would both get a title shot. But at a later date, the two would fight for the main event spot at Wrestlemania.

Or they could stop the match after it was only the final two and have Heyman/Bishoff come down and explain that both were getting a shot at Mania but now they must have a regular match for the main event spot.
