Firefly on DVD

Recommended Posts

The new trailer is way better than the first. The first tried to make this out to be some huge epic action piece, and it kinda fell flat as a result. This one is much more subtle and seems to be much more in line with the show's tone. Less "THAT GIRL IS KICKING ASS" and more "subtlesubtle." With the ridiculous marketing push this is getting from Sci-Fi now, I'm a bit more optimistic about the movie's chances of breaking even.

If the movie is good, then it will do well. Word of mouth is the best marketing out there.

I don't know about that.

Whenever I tried to sell people on watching "Firefly" I usually got a bizarre puzzled look and either "I don't like westerns" or "how come there's no aliens"?

My favorite is when people actually try to argue the show isn't realistic because its set in the future, but they still use guns and the ships travel at sub-light speeds (as if phasers and warp drive could really exist).

Apparently I need smarter friends.

Yes. Yes you do.

I've managed to hook about 10 people on the show so far.

I thought "The Train Job" was great, but "Serenity" works far better as an explanation of what's going on.

Remember how confusing it was to watch "Out of Gas" before "Serenity" aired?

Once again, fuck you, Fox.

Just wait until "Ariel" "Trash" "Out Of Gas" "War Stories" and "Objects in Space". You will shit yourself.

The Train Job, after a few viewings, becomes pretty much the worst episode of the bunch. You can really hear the exposition in the lines and it gets kindof annoying.

Brian:

"He robbed from the rich and he gave to the poor, he stood up to the man and he gave him what for. Our love for him now, ain't hard to explain, the hero of canton the man they call Jayne"

Just wait...

Just finished Ariel...I am so pissed I didn't jump on this show sooner. This show will have high reply on my DVD player.

"Out of Gas" was great. You knew everyone would make it, but still...sad stuff.

I didn't like Jayne in the first couple episodes...seemed to be overdoing the "I'm such a badass" thing. Then he just got hysterical.

Now I'm just bummed that 6 more episodes and a movie is all I have to look forward to.

Ya fuckin' ingrate. Imagine how it felt to be w/ this show since the (kinda) beggining and THEN learning about the movie and THEN learning that the movie was delayed.

Good to see you like the show, dude. Ariel is my favorite episode.

Damn, that trailer is awesome.

And I loved how the movie was shot, lighting wise. It has this certain glow to it, if you will.

The movie should be low budget enough it won't be that hard to show enough of a profit to justify a sequel. I mean, come on, there have been HOW MANY Star Trek movies?

Its still hillarious to me that the average "Firefly" episode was more impressive visually than a lot of the feature films that cost over $100 million.

They won some technical awards for their visual effects. I think the camera angles during the CG shots were what made it a lot more "organic", as they would pan and zoom and whatnot during the shot, so it not only fit into the shot but it also didn't just stand there.

I won't get to see the movie on opening night because I'm going to see the Killers. However, Oct 1st sounds next best to me.
