Why vince won't do anything with wcw footage

I think one bug reason Vince probably will just sit on the tapes is probably one of the same reasons Vince didn't go full tilt on the WCW "Invasion"

 

Because he'd have to admit that for a period someone was better than he was.  The only time WCW's run at the top was mentioned was Shane's off-hand remark at the end of the simulcast promo, the rest of the time WCW was made to look like they were riding the WWF's coat tails instead of rising like a phoenix to return to past glory.

 

So while itd be a great idea, I think  Vince and co. would probably like it best if people did not know that there was a time when WCW was a hotter product and even a better product than the WWF

The reason is because that would be something the fans would actually like to see, and as we all know, the WWF isn't about giving the fans what they want.

It's about giving the fans what Vince wants them to want.  Which means Stephie Stephie STEPHIE!  

 

All the frickin' time.

 

I try to watch the new brand extention era, and enjoy it, because it's refreshingly devoid of her on camera presence.  But deep down, I know someday she'll be back, and that always lingers in the recesses of my brain, taunting me. (If you think Hulkamania is hard to kill...take a gander at Stephamania.)

 

Yeah, the WWF has always been loathe to even acknowledge its own history...you can imagine how Vince and co. are going to treat someone else's.

 

It's truly a shame, too.  That historical archive of WCW and ECW stuff should be in the legal control of someone who cares about it...hey, do you think the master copies of old WCW shows have been chucked in the fire to keep Castle McMahon warm during the cold winter months?

That would be a big blow to Vince's ego, deep down, if WCW made money. I think that's the basic reason why the InVasion failed, because somwhere inside Vince never wanted to see WCW succeed even though he had convinced everyone else that he wnated to make it successful.

Here's a thought:

Maybe Vince won't do anything with the WCW footage, that is re-release it, because very few people (read: us) really care about it. Face it: Does the average Rock fan know or care about Arn Anderson? Basically, if the market isn't there it doesn't make sense to release a product.

I've had my fair share of day dreams about DVDs I'd like to see, but they're a smark's want list, not a mark's.
