Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted April 12, 2002 After watching that segment, I have really questioned my liking for the WWF and its fans. Alright, Stacy's hot and all and yeah, that was...great seeing her dance. This is the thing, though: I'm one of the few 15 year olds in this world that actually watched the WWF for WRESTLING. I started watching wrestling, specifically the WWF, in 1996 and loved seeing people like Bret Hart, Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels and Pyscho Sid wrestle every week. I remember watching Superstars every Saturday Morning. This was when wrestling was half as sleezy as what it is today and was more on pure wrestling. I remember when fans actually got INTO watching a 20 minute wrestling match that didn't include run-ins, weapons, blah blah blah. But that's not the point... After seeing this thing with Stacy/Vince, it reminds me of Vince/Trish II from last year and that's the last thing I want to see. Vince McMahon has such a fucking ego to do something like that it makes me sick to watch. I really question the WWF fans into actually CHEERING bullshit like that. I know this stuff has happened MANY times before and it's not new, but something about watching this tonight really made me wonder if this is the type of thing I want to do as a carrer...which is true...I do want to be a pro wrestler. I just hope the business takes a change from this kinda crap back to 96-97 where wrestling was actually WRESTLING and not this shit I watch with Stacy Fucking Keibler and Vince Fucking McMahon. This is one of those posts where I wanted to vent my anger by just writing down my thoughts in not a really organizated fashion.
Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted April 12, 2002 I really hope they don't go the route of Trish/Vince. The shit bathing incident was sick, and just a ploy to feed the egos of that old pervert Vince & his silicone riddled daughter Stephanie.
Guest Risk Report post Posted April 12, 2002 I've tried not watching Smackdown!, and I've been successful. Maybe if we stop watching, something will change. This whole wrestling/soap opera has to go, it's too dumb.
Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted April 12, 2002 Your right, Risk. Smackdown sucks. 1. It's taped, it doesn't give you the same feeling as it is live. 2. It's got better talent then Raw, yet Raw pulled off an AWESOME show on Monday that really made me appreciate the WWF. 3. You've got Albert vs. Scotty, when you have guys like DDP and Storm fucking watching Mark Henry hold a limo when they could be wrestling on Smackdown? RIGHT. 4. Raw's got Brock Lesnar. Whoa, I'm going full mark mode tonight.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted April 12, 2002 Eh i didn't even bother watching that looking for an assistant garbage. But other then that i watched the matches since most weren't bad and switched off the stupid skits.
Guest notJames Report post Posted April 12, 2002 Are you sure Vince Russo wasn't hired back? I mean, non-wrestling skits involving scantilly-clad women, veiled gay references, run-in after run-in after run-in? This looks like it's going to get worse before it gets better... Guest Brian Report post Posted April 12, 2002 Or we could only tune into the cruiserweights and hope the rating gets a bump there, and see how the WWF takes it. They're not going to change if they don't see any upward momentum to head towards.
Guest Report post Posted April 12, 2002 At time like this I stick to Japanese and classic wrestling. Although I can't leave Smackdown or Raw because the week I do Jericho will rattle off a 5***** 15 minute match, and then it will never happen again.

Although I can't leave Smackdown or Raw because the week I do Jericho will rattle off a 5***** 15 minute match, and then it will never happen again. The only way it would happen would be if he was wrestling in the Main Event with Benoit for the Undisputed Title. And that ain't gonna happen. No matter how much we pray, threaten, hold Shane-O-Mac hostage,...
Guest Risk Report post Posted April 12, 2002 I have a few ideas to save the WWF. 1)Take away the IC title(the name makes no sense if you have a World title also). Maybe a Television title would be better. 2)Get rid of all the other belts except Heavyweight, Cruiserweight, and tag team. 3)Make almost ALL matches over seven minutes. 4)Only have three differant runs in MAX for a show. 5)A more stiff wrestling style. 6)Fire some of the guys who can't carry their weight. I admit it sucked but by that last line did you imply Stacy is at fault here? I dont like her much but Vince deserves all the blame. What a jackass. That was the worst segment Ive seen in awhile. The shit bathing incident was sick, and just a ploy to feed the egos of that old pervert Vince & his silicone riddled daughter Stephanie. I think that was just to further the angle. I dont think that stroked Steph and Vinces ego. I think the sex with Trish and bark like a dog angles stroked Vinces but not that. I've tried not watching Smackdown!, and I've been successful. Maybe if we stop watching, something will change. This whole wrestling/soap opera has to go, it's too dumb. No that wont work unless you have a Nielson box dumbass. Guest Mystery Eskimo Report post Posted April 12, 2002 Vince needs to stop getting himself involved with every woman that comes along, it's just boring. We had Trish, Torrie and now Stacy...why does he think *anyone* would rather see him getting cheap thrills than a longer match?
Guest muzanisa Report post Posted April 12, 2002 I think it's the writers. They say to Stephanie that she's so easy to write for and how she can make any angle gold, Despite the fact that she has three facial expressions and fuck off and die heat. I think they probably do the same to Vince. Yeah Vince it's totally believable that a hot young bird would fancy you with your wattle neck, too long on a sunbed skin and stupid quiff, of course they would. Usually they would do somethin like this to wake up a crowd thats died 3 times over. 20 minute matches on smackdown? WO! When was the last time we seen that happen? Also 1996 and no = different. 1996 is pre-attitude when WWF was being fucked royaly in ratings by WCW. Now its post attitude with only 1 championship federation.

But now that Hulk Hogan and the nWo are back I don't want to miss out on seeing Hogan's last run and the "new" nWo. As soon as they leave i'm probably going to go back to watching the indy's again. Guest Report post Posted April 12, 2002 http://www.wrestlingheadlines.com/news/200.../1018578546.php Matthew Brown sent in the following: At the press conferance and at the breakfast today, Vince said that the Rock is looking forward to coming to Australia and he said the Triple H would be here and he said as he left the Smackdown! tapings, Hogan reminded Vince that he has never been to Australia. So three names have been confirmed by Vince. It's a Smackdown! tour so Vince said Stone Cold would not be coming, he got a few boos for that but they didn't last for long. Vince McMahon and Stacy Keibler were at the Melbourne town hall today for Triple J's(radio station) breakfast broadcast. They got to the building around 8:30a.m. and were on around 10 minutes later. Vince talks a bit about the Rock and the Scorpion King and then the Triple J host mentions that earlier in the week they interviewed the Rock and he said how Vince has the best "Man Titties" the Rock has ever seen. Vince laughs. Stacy talks about her table spot with the dudleys a few weeks ago and how she was scared. Host asks Vince if Booker T's Spinaroonie is the stupidest move ever. Stacy says its hard to do because she's tried to on numerous occasions but has failed. Vince agrees and says it's the stupidest move ever. Then they talk about catch phrases. Then a song is played and durring the break Vince and Stacy sign autographs. Around 5 people were selected to come up on stage on show of their talents to Vince for a possible "contract". Funny segment. One more plug for the tour and that was it. I then later saw Vince and Stacy coming out of the building, so I got an autograph and photo with Vince, Stacy was busy with other people, then Vince told security to make sure Stacy got in the limo and was being quite protective of her. But Vince was a class act and was extremely nice. I gotta say, he is absolutly huge and is build like a tank. It's been quite the fun day, I'm looking forward to tomorrow. -------------------- Sounds like Vince is trying to get laid to me. Since when does Vince go over seas? Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted April 12, 2002 I'm not blaming it all on Stacy, cause it is Vince's fault. Stacy's just an employeer who gets payed to do that, so I'm not blaming it on her. Second... "20 minute matches on smackdown? WO! When was the last time we seen that happen?" May-June of 2001 when wrestling was awesome in the WWF. And what's wrong with pointing out problems? It's the only way to make it better.

Taking away the Intercontinental Championship would be a big mistke. It's one of the more decorated Titles in Federation/Wrestling history (especially after it got unified with the WCW US), and its pretty integral in WWF storylines (and has made/broke numerous careers as well) 2.) Someone had the good idea to unify the European belt with the IC, and I agree with that. The hardcore Title should definately be dropped, and the Women's division is (albiet VERY) slowly picking up steam, so I say give them a chance. 3.) Agree 111% 4.) Agree 111% 5.) Agree somewhat- some matches can/should be brutal, but I like the different mix of styles they have now. 6.) Agree 111% Joe P.

Hey at least we don't have any of the retarded "WWF SUX NWA RULZ" stuff on this board like there is at others.....You hafta listen to the people who INSIST the NWA World title "always has been and always will be" the ONLY wolrd title that means anything in wrestling...God its pathetic to see people clinging to the past soo damn bad...dont even get me started;-) Joe P. Uh...I don't know what WWF programming you were watching in 1996/1997, but the stuff I saw wasn't any more based on "pure" wrestling than the shows we're seeing now. I seem to recall the Gang Wars, the Truth Commission, and many more angles and gimmicks that didn't result in good wrestling at any point. The matches, on average, were a little longer but given that the WWF's talent pool is about 100x deeper now than it was then, the wrestling wasn't a whole lot better. Plus, I don't think Vince is willing to go back to 2.3 ratings for the sake of "pure" wrestling. Most people don't want to see it.
Guest Report post Posted April 12, 2002 Yes, but in defense to the 96-97 era, it did play home to the god of an angle known as Austin vs. the Hart Foundation.
Guest The Man in Blak Report post Posted April 12, 2002 It might be good to bring up a point about the ratings between Raw and Smackdown...honestly, given both shows, I think Raw has actually been a little bit better, even though it hasn't been that great, and I wonder how the ratings reflect this. You know, are the casual fans watching Raw and getting interested, or is Raw just pleasing all of the smart mark fans? I'd LOVE it if Raw would bring in better ratings than Smackdown in, say, two weeks (after the split has settled in and people get into which show(s) they want to watch).
