Guest godthedog Report post Posted April 13, 2002 vince/stacy crap (as well as dvon & mark henry crap) aside, i thought smackdown was a good show. also if they're prepping benoit for another main event push (which seems to be the case, judging from his place in the draft), if benoit starts FEELING IT upon his return, & if the stars are in the right place, smackdown could start kicking some ass in a month or so. up till his injury the bookers & writers were getting a real sense of how to use him correctly (i.e. let him wrestle for long periods of time), and with the roster he has to work with, this could be a very good summer. Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted April 13, 2002 How was 1996 not like today with WWF women? You ha dSable, sunny, and Marlena on the sows every week, and if no on figured it out, Sunny probably started the flow of WWF women coming out half dressed, which is not bad at all to me. Guest alexcc79 Report post Posted April 13, 2002 I have a few ideas to save the WWF. 1)Take away the IC title(the name makes no sense if you have a World title also). Maybe a Television title would be better. 2)Get rid of all the other belts except Heavyweight, Cruiserweight, and tag team. 3)Make almost ALL matches over seven minutes. 4)Only have three differant runs in MAX for a show. 5)A more stiff wrestling style. 6)Fire some of the guys who can't carry their weight. Hey Risk, I would like to personally thank you for those wonderful, original ideas. No one on this board has nearly as much insight as you in dealing with saving the WWF. I'm glad that you are confident enough in your foresight and your grasp on the fan to know that people who watch wrestling like to see matches. I am also glad that Vince MacMahon gives a shit about what you or any other smart mark thinks. Vince MacMahon will only cater to smart marks when his ratings are bad. Here's a piece of news: most cable shows would kill for a 4.0 and the WWF gets that weekly. Here's my idea to save the WWF. Stop being so negative. Your negativity brings everyone down. Look for the positive. If you share the positive with people it will inspire them to watch. Which sentence would make you want to watch something: Man, Stacy Kiebler danced on a table and there was a good cruiserweight match, it sure looks like they're going to do something with the division because there is a storyline developing. or Smackdown sucks.? Gee, tough decision, but I'd go with one. The only way to get people to watch is to let them know that there are positives on the shows. Talking shit about the show all the time and then complaining about ratings is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Look through my posts on this board sometimes. I don't sit around and constantly talk shit about everything the WWF does. I do sometimes, but only when there is a big fuckup. Most of the time I look for what's positive and that genererates discussion about how the wwf can be entertaining when they try. PS You are NOT A SMART MARK, you are a mark who reads what you think is insider information. I bet you thought you were a genious when you knew the nWo was coming back. Then you turned on your tv and saw 500 nWo signs and thought, "Gee, every fan must read dirt sheets." What it really meant is that the story is easy enough for marks to figure out by watching, but too hard for someone who calls himself smart. The only people who are smart to the business of the people in the business and the people who have sources, and Risk, I douby you are on Vince's speed dial. Wrestling has always been based on the suspension of disbelief, now try to not be cynical (which you undoubtedly do because you think it makes you cool when in reality your only friends have names like Wompa and Bradshaw mark who also think they are smart because they know the Rock has a kid) and try to enjoy someting you love so much that you talk about how much you hate it constantly. Guess what, Vince MacMahon doesn't care if you tune in to see the WWF succeed or fail as long as you tune in. GROW UP and quit whining. Sincerely, Alex
Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted April 13, 2002 "Uh...I don't know what WWF programming you were watching in 1996/1997, but the stuff I saw wasn't any more based on "pure" wrestling than the shows we're seeing now. I seem to recall the Gang Wars, the Truth Commission, and many more angles and gimmicks that didn't result in good wrestling at any point. The matches, on average, were a little longer but given that the WWF's talent pool is about 100x deeper now than it was then, the wrestling wasn't a whole lot better. Plus, I don't think Vince is willing to go back to 2.3 ratings for the sake of "pure" wrestling. Most people don't want to see it. " Your talking about everything that happened in late 1997 which is far from my point. I'm talking more of a wrestling fan standpoint in late 96, early 97. Just go watch Survivor Series 1996. That was a PURE wrestling PPV. Watch Rumble 97. That was a pure mark-out PPV (Austin winning, HBK winning). You had Austin/Harts in 1997 that was just what the guy said, a god-like feud. Obviously the shit you talk about isn't what I'm talking about.
Guest Report post Posted April 13, 2002 The only good parts of that goddamn annoying and pointless segment were Stacey dancing (duh) and Vince telling the first bitch "dont let the door hit you in the ass on....wait a minute the ring doesnt have a door" you figure he would know that by now
