What I don't get about Lawler's commentary about puppies is that he only does that when a face female is going to the ring, in the ring, being interviewed, etc. but not when a heel female is doing the same thing. Come on! Victoria, Gail Kim, and Molly Holly are at least on the level of Trish and Stacy.

i started to hate Lawler when he started that feud a few years back with Jake Roberts over Jake's alcoholism...well, Jerry, Jake may be an alcoholic and a crackhead, but at least he's not a CHILD-MOLESTER...can you say the same?

Lawler never molested a child. The accuser made it up and admitted it in court under oath.

Cole's pretty good these days. Schiavone is knowledgable enough, but I think he lost his passion for the business under Bischoff. He was basically a zombie by the end there.

Schiavone was a hideous announcer for like 2 years +. He should never get another chance to announce, ever.

 

I'm all for Coach in the announce booth. He is a refreshing different voice from the crap that is in there now. Give him time to get better at it and he probably will.

 

Cole and Tazz were routinely blasted because they weren't any good about 2 years ago but now, in my opinion, they are the best announce team in wrestling especially with Tazz starting to heel it up as the announcer again. So why don't they give Coach a try in the three man booth and let him develop. I thought him making fun of Lawler and JR was the best thing to happen to the announcing on Raw for quite some time. Fact of the matter is not talking about the undercard matches has become routine on Raw and is currently the least of their problems. I would rather have a more entertaining announce team than a stale tired one that pays attention to all the matches. At least I could watch most of the show because I found their announcing entertaining which is more than I can say for JR and Lawler at this point.

At that rate, Cole has had 5 bad years, and maybe 1/2 a good one. So he sucks.

Heenan/Monsoon were the best combination ever. In a comical way. They could make even the WORST match watchable just to hear them arguing over anything.

Yes they WERE great. Thing is we aren't talking about then we are talking about now (at least I thought that was what the thread was about). Bringing back voices that have really run their course with the fan base is a terrible decision. An injection of new life is what is needed but all I ever see being discussed is to bring back old names. Old announcers (just like old wrestlers) aren't going to help put on an entertaining show.

The thing about bringing in new good announcers is that as long as JR is in charge of hring them it aint going to happen. Hell both Cole and Coach weren't wrestling fans at all and know nothing about product when they were hired and I don't even think Kevin Kelly did either.

 

In fact the only new announcer they've hired that has been a fan and knows the product is Josh Matthews and I'm shocked he got in.

 

Of course, JR hires people that don't know the product so he can keep his job.

Don't forget, the announcers generally have to be "pretty" - because there's always that lil box on the bottom of the screen with the announcer's face calling the match.

JR and Johnny Ace head up the wrestling talent side of things. If I'm not mistaken Kevin Dunn does the announcer/tv side hiring and I'm positive that he is the one behind the announcers having that tv anchor look. In fact after JR had his bells palsey incident Dunn was the one who didn't want him brought back because of the way his face looked.

 

So don't blame which announcers come in on JR.

Ah, so the fact that ever since JR became lead announcer and VP of Talent Relations that not a single good announcer - especially PBP announcer - has arisen, is merely coincidental? (Tazz's rise could not be foreseen as he *sucked* on Heat, Heyman was out of necessity since King quit and they needed a quick fix) Despite, say, Stephen Quadros being on the market and actually having applied to the WWE. Yet JR - who earns quite the paycheck BTW - is still there, plugging away. I find that funny. I also find it funny that JR - whom many call "the best announcer of all time" (I disagree, but 'people of stature' call him that) - hasn't been able to teach the coach, or cole, or leary, or that-other-guy-who-doesn't-do-anything, or kelly, how to "do it right".
