Guest SP-1 Posted January 15, 2004 Report Posted January 15, 2004 That might work for a time. But CE is a different animal than WWE. Seriously. Just a different breed of conversation and posters. Not always good, mind you, but it's a little bit of a higher level. CE would destroy some of the posters that overrun the WWE folder. You could try those rules but . . . I dunno. I doubt it would work for very long. You'd need a mod that has a good head on their shoulders, is patient, and gives a crap about the folder in the first place.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted January 15, 2004 Report Posted January 15, 2004 The WWE product right now sucks, thus wouldn't most of the topics suck from the product sucking? Food for thought
NYU Posted January 15, 2004 Report Posted January 15, 2004 Here's a thought. 1.) Have designated posters for posting 1bob News Threads, Torch News Update Threads, Observer News Update Threads, PPV Threads, One and Only Raw Threads, One and Only SD Threads, One and Only Veloicidental Threads, and One and Only Heat Threads. Then we'll stop with the same news stories having 3 and 4 threads about them. Terrible idea. Then: 1) You're assuming people here live to be on this message board instead of living their normal lives. They're not always going to be ready to reveal news with a few keyboard strokes and a click of the mouse. If the Torch releases news on confirmed WrestleMania matches, nobody here can know about it until the designated "Torch" person decides to write about it? You're not only hurting discussion, but you're keeping people uninformed perhaps of something huge in wrestling for what reason? 2) And the "One and Only" threads have never been a big problem around here. Again, what if someone *gasp* decides not to go near the computer one day? And he's the designated One and Only Raw Thread person. Does this mean we're not allowed to talk about Raw? I've never seen more than two "One and Only" threads up, and one usually gets deleted anyway. No big deal. 3) Finally, if you designate people, then we're going to have even MORE fluff in the WWE folder. "What's your favorite match of the year so far?", "Where is this storyline going?", "I hate Triple H/Goldberg/Big Show/Randy Orton......", etc. People won't be able to post actual NEWS so, if they want to start a topic, they'll have to put up garbage instead. Maybe the WWE folder needs to be cleaned up a little, but definitely not in that way.
Art Sandusky Posted January 15, 2004 Report Posted January 15, 2004 Haha, I doubt I'll be there for it. Maybe for Mania. If this semester is anyting like last semester I'll have something big due around Rumble time probably. Until then, I'll wait right here (it'd be awesome if George's was that nice).

I'm not particularily well liked by anyone so I won't be biased, I'm not going to let power go to my head and start banning everyone because my job would be to stimulate conversation not destroy it, I do post in there a great deal, everyone agrees it's a problem that needs to be dealt with. I'd be willing to keep track of everything and I'm on for a long time each day. Also, I have an eye for detail, and I'd be willing to step down if asked. It'd be now different than when RikiChoshu became Puro Mod. I've been around a while, and I'm willing to do it right.
bob_barron Posted January 15, 2004 Report Posted January 15, 2004 http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?...0entry1216976 Replies like that are what's wrong with WWE folder. What the hell is the point of posting if you're just going to make a stupid emoticon and not add anything of worth. There are too many posts like that in the WWE folder. How do you fix it? I don't really know and that's the problem

Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted January 15, 2004 Report Posted January 15, 2004 To NY: About the "assuming people live by their computers" thing: Most of the people on here at work so it's no big deal to be on for long periods during the day. If they can't copy and paste the big once a week updates from the Torch, 1bob, or Meltzer they probobly wouldn't volunteer for doing the job anyway. I assume you weren't talking about the TV Show threads, because starting one of those is 10 seconds once a week.

Guest SP-1 Posted January 15, 2004 Report Posted January 15, 2004 You know we couldn't resist, bob. In a way I see what you're saying. In small doses stuff like that isn't a bit deal but it does become stupid past a certain point.

That person would either have to be glued here to report every time Scherer or Ryder report a piece of news, or it would just go unreported here. Then, the board loses one of its main purposes as a result. And you said there should be a designated "One and Only" person for each show. Again, if that person were to go missing....would the topic just not get posted? You create a whole situation there that isn't needed. I understand what you're saying, but I don't think it would work positively around here...
Slayer Posted January 15, 2004 Report Posted January 15, 2004 I asked for that didn't I? Pedro says "sí"

spiny norman Posted January 15, 2004 Report Posted January 15, 2004 Is it possible to make a word limit per your post. Like make it impossible for anything less than a certain amount to be posted? That way mainly substantial things will be posted (or long-winded unsubstantial things, whatever the case may be).

I understand what you're saying, but I don't think it would work positively around here... If the show starts, and the thread ain't up, then I think it's a no brainer that someone else handles it. After all, most of them time these things are posted HOURS in advance. Plus, every time a news item is posted on one of the big three it's here in the next minute anyway. What I'm suggesting is just find one or two guys to do it.

One being just to fool with ya, the other to show how it would suck if you couldn't use to show sarcasm, heh.
bob_barron Posted January 15, 2004 Report Posted January 15, 2004 I hate that emoticon with a passion. You don't need an emoticon. How about: Downhome- I hate you and want you to die- I mean become a vegetable for the rest of your life. [/sarcasm] No need for that evil emoticon

Art Sandusky Posted January 15, 2004 Report Posted January 15, 2004 Yes, let Rudo become the mod of the WWE folder, then we can be treated with AUTHORITATIVE "wit!"

You fucking bastard don't you EVER talk that way about him again~! You hear me!? Ok, I'd be for doing away with them, but it wouldn't help. People who REALLY want to use them would just go post them as [/img] anyway, then it would come down to getting rid of being able to post pictures and everything.
