Friday The 13th series...

Recommended Posts

Guest JumpinJackFlash

The thing I hate most about the Friday series is that at the end of part 2(my favorite), Jason is all disfigured, and his head is all swollen up. But in Part 3, he has a regular face with just a few dips of makeup put on him. I hated that!

Best kill:

I forget which number but party favor into the eye. Bless Jason, the man killed with what he had around him.

Biggest huh moment:

What the hell ever happened to Tommy Jarvis? Is he dead or what? Did he just get tired of killing Jason and move to Florida? I don't remember if they ever addressed just where in the hell Tommy went.

Favorite Weapon

Machette. It's just not Jason without a machette.

Also Jack, I think it was well established that Jason had a healing factor better than Wolverine.

As for the DVD box set, Columbia House DVD already HAS a box set of "Friday the 13th" available so I thought it was already out? It's an 8 DVD set for 119.96 so is it they are working on ANOTHER set?

I believe that's just a collection of the seperate DVDs that have been released.

This will be a set that the studio works on as a set. They will be making all new DVDs with commentary and extas.

And I heard PArt VII will be released uncut. From what I hear it was so graphic and gory that it was edited to hell (no pun intended to Ft13th series).

Wait, how is it the same? Halloween 3 had NOTHING to do with the series whatsoever. There were killer Silver Shamrock masks, not a fake Michael Meyers...

I didn't say they were the same. They're both good but everybody acts like they're the worst movies ever just because they don't have Michael and Jason in it. They're both in the imdb bottom 100 and that's the only thing you usually hear against them.

I just didn't like F13-5 for it's ending..

You mean where Tommy turns into the next Jason? That was cool. They should've done more with that.

Alright cool about the Box set. Now I'm glad I didn't buy the one Columbiahouse was selling.

But didn't Tommy come back to kill Jason in Part 6?

See, that is where the series started losing me

Tommy slaps on the mask at the end of Part 5 but digs up Jason (huh???) in Part 6.

So what the hell happened to Tommy???

Better question. How does zombie Jason come back to life all grown up when he died as a little kid?

Well, one of the big rumors was Jason never really drowned but he did "die" so to speak.

One of the things is he was just a sweet deformed boy till he was left to die in the lake. Somehow he lived but mentally he was dead.

Mommy snapped because of this (best guess, the camp was closed after the death), and when mommy was killed...big boy Jason flipped out and started killing.

The series is very confusing but it does give subtle hints as to what the hell was going on. I still can't figure out what the hell happened to Tommy though.

For those dissatisfied about the way Jason was killed in part 3. Well Remember, Jason was still a human in parts 1-4. He didn't become the ultra-zombie killing machine until he was ressurected in part 6. So in parts 1-4 it would be perfectly reasonable for him to be killed by means that would kill a regular person.

Oh and, just about every death scene in the history of F13th history has been cut somehow in some shape or form, which is weird because NOES kills were pretty fucking violent all the way through with no problem.

Here's hoping the box set is UNCUT..,,

Let's see here. My favorite of all time is probably part II. Partly because of Jason's first movie, but also because (IMO of course) I think its better than the first.

I'll say the worst is Jason Goes To Hell.

Favorite kill is probably the wheel chair kid, but honorable mention to the buzzsaw, sleeping bag, and "The power of the punch".

Favorite weapon: Either the axe or the machete.

While we're on the subject of the F13 series, does anyone know where I could find an MP3 (or any other sound file) of the music that plays at the end of the first one when Alice is in the boat before Jason pulls her under? I always loved that music, but I could never find it anywhere.

You could try a kazaa search. That is where I downloaded the themes to F13th 1-3 and Every NOES theme besides, 4, and New Nightmare....... :headbang: If you happen to find more of the good stuff, let me know.

I had a bizzare dream a while ago about the F13 series.

The dream was in the form of a parody of the F13 movies. But I'm afraid to tell anyone because they might go make a script and get it copyrighted.

ANYWAY(after that odd comment)

Why does Jason still kill people when he avenged his mother by killing Alice in part 2?

From Mark's review of Part II

Still she manages to get away only to end up at Jason’s love shack.

Hi Mom’s decapitated head!

Hi Terry’s body!

Hi Alice’s body! (She’s looked better.)

You mean that Alice has been dead for five years and hasn't yet decomposed?

The series wasn't about Jason at all. It was about a mysterious antique shop that was full of objects that were cursed, haunted or had some sort of supernatural element.

The only link to Jason was that his mask and machete were in the possesion of the shop at one point.

He's a psychotic retard who takes orders form his mother...even if shes dead.

Well there's that [that they didn't do anything with it], and the fact that it wasn't really Jason doing the killings throughout the whole movie. Just kinda came on a down note for me..

Granted, I still bought the movie because obviously I wanted the whole collection - which I have on VHS.. but I'm so glad to hear about this possible DVD boxed set. Hopefully it's a reality and not a pipedream like the Batman TAS boxed sets...

She was looking pretty mummy like, so I think the J man was keeping her nice and dry.

Better question. How does zombie Jason come back to life all grown up when he died as a little kid?

Jason was born in 1946. He "drowned" in 1957. F13 Part 2 takes place in 1982. Jason is 36 years old at the time of that movie. The legend goes that he drowned, but his body was never recovered which would hint that he did infact survive the drowning.

You mean where Tommy turns into the next Jason? That was cool. They should've done more with that.

I disagree. I always found the concept of a copycat killer of the original killer to be the replacement for the next sequel to be quite lame. I'm glad they changed their minds about it and made that part of the movie another dream sequence.

Tommy slaps on the mask at the end of Part 5 but digs up Jason (huh???) in Part 6.

So what the hell happened to Tommy???

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

Jason's body is taken to the Wessex County Morgue, from which he escapes. After returning to Crystal Lake and killing several people, Jason is killed by 12 year-old Tommy Jarvis. This unbalances Tommy, who spends the next four years in mental institutions. Jason's body is buried in secret at Eternal Peace Cemetery. (Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter </films/friday4.html>)

1985

In an attempt to disassociate itself from Jason Voorhees, Crystal Lake changes its name to Forest Green.

1987

Tommy, now 15, is moved from an institution to a halfway house for troubled teenagers. The son of ambulance attendant Roy Burns is killed by one of the kids and Roy, masquerading as Jason, methodically kills the others. Tommy is forced to kill Roy, further affecting his mental state. Tommy attacks Pam, one of the survivors, but is subdued and returned to an institution. (Friday the 13th Part V </films/friday5.html>)

1988

May 12-13 (Friday) - Tommy, now 16, is released from the mental institution. When he digs up Jason's grave, intending to cremate him, Jason is reanimated by a bolt of lightning. Jason kills his way toward Camp Forest Green, which is once again attempting to open its doors to campers. Tommy drowns Jason in Lake Forest Green (Crystal Lake)

and I would assume he rode off into the sunset with his girlfriend satisfied that he thought he ended the terror.

I heard that Paramount is making the box set, so that definately would only include the first 8 in the series, because I believe New Line started making the Friday series after that. I also heard that Paramount owns the rights to the name "Friday the 13th", and that they wouldn't want to lend that name to any more of films (thus the reason for Jason X,Jason goes to Hell, and Freddy vs. Jason.)

Why? Jason was dead. Part 4 was the final chapter and 5 was a new beginning with a different Jason. Tommy should've went on and became the killer in 6. I liked how it was a real guy instead of a zombie.

And there's no way Tommy was 15 in part 5. He looked like he was in his 20s at least. And since he was crazier than ever and they let him out I figured 6 had to be years and years and years later.

Well, Jason was a "normal" guy until his death in Part 4. He became the zombie in Part 6 and from then on once he was resurrected.

I know its bullshit to you, but in fact his character is 15 in the movie.

Yeah Paramount is working on the box set, but the first 8 are all you really need.

9 and 10 can almost be considered an alternate universe to the first 8.
