JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2004 Okay, so I'm into indy wrestling. I love ROH, and I want to see the new MLW stuff. I've seen a little CZW as well. I'm wondering about 3PW and IWA-MS - I've heard a lot about the latter, but not a lot about 3PW. Are their shows worth checking out? Which are the best ones? What types of feds are they? How well do they draw? What other really good indy feds are out there? Which are the most succesful? Thanks!
Guest Markingout Report post Posted January 18, 2004 Ok, here we go. 3PW is classical in a sense with alot of your old favories like Meanie,Snuka,Sabu,Funk, but it also has some new school talent like Ruckus, Low Ki, Homicide, AJ, Sydal, and some other guys apperening on occasion. 3PW isn't the best wrestling wise, but I find it too be very fun and entertaining. Ok, best shows? I dunno they very too good too bad. Most of the shows have one good match or two and the rest is entertaining. These are my favorites are A New Era,One Year Anniversary Show (Cide vs Ki!~),and A Funkin Classic (The CZW boys appear). They draw about 300-600 each show. Ok,IWA MS is a different story. Its a small company that usually draw 25-200. They live basically on tape sales. This is an awesome company who has a hardcore style mixed with some technical guys like Shelly,Jacobs,Hero,Lynn, and if you watch the older tapes Punk, and Colt appear alot. They also have specials shows like the Ted Petty invitational where the best of the indy circuit come too take part in an awesome tournement. TPI 2002 is such a good show its a must buy. Anthere must buy is When Hero Met Punk,TPI 2003 was pretty cool,Winter Wars 2003,Stylin and Profilin. These are some good shows if you want too watch wrestling. I dont like checking out the deathmatches. Oh yeah, and The Spirit of 76 was awesome. IWA MS> 3PW. Other promotions too look for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla out of Cali. You can order there tapes from SMV.com. A good crop of West Coast guys mixed with the East Coasters(Punk,Joe,Colt, and among other). Old school JAPW is awesome. The new stuff is meh. Stuff from 2001-2002 was cool. NWA-Wildside is amazing. Slim J,Caprice Coleman,Rainman,Tod Sexton. Really good promotion which features some awesome crusiers. Internet Wrestling Syndicate-IWS straight out of Quebec Canada I belive. A very hardcore promotion that can mix it up with some wrestling. My favorite promotion out of Canada. wXw from Germany has Hero and some good exported talent. Its in Germany. Stampede Wrestling is pretty fucking good too. I just saw some new matches. I enjoyed it alot. Alot of young talent coming out of there. Jack Evans pwns all. Bah,I am tired thats all I can think of for now. Also buy JCW J'Cup version 3.0 from SMV.com. Very solid show with an awesome final. Sorry for bad grammer, but I am tired.

LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2004 As you can see from my sig, I have an article coming in a few days that I'll be posting here, about 3PW. Keep an eye out for that. The guy above did a pretty good job explaining the gist of things. IWA-MS is ran by former-ECW'er Ian Rotten and run in hick towns in Indiana and draw horribly, but produce some of the best hardcore wrestling and best mat wrestling in the nation. They've used throughout their existence (they started in I think '97) Sabu, 2 Cold Scorpio, Big Dick Dudley, Jerry Lynn (their current champ), Balls Mahoney, Axl Rotten, The Sandman, Balls Mahoney, Spike Dudley, Corino, Blue Meanie, and others. They hold highly acclaimed technical wrestling tournaments and death match tournaments on a yearly basis. IWAMidSouthWrestling.com, SmartMarkVideo.com CZW was formed out of John Zandig's backyard, pretty much. He was a wrestler and made CZW so that he could put the guys he trained onto shows and give them a crowd to work in front of. They're known for the hardcore shit, but have a lot of other relatively good stuff, if you pick the right shows. Tommy Dreamer, Balls Mahoney, Jerry Lynn, and Kronus have worked for them. CZWWrestling.com, SmartMarkVideo.com Wildside was formed through a merger of NWA territory and NCW in like 2000. It brought Ron "The Truth/K-Kwik" Killings, David Young, Rick Michaels, Jimmy Rave, Slim J, and AJ Styles - among others - to the forefront of indy wrestling. They've used The Hurricane, Shannon Moore, Jeff Hardy, and others. They have some of the best cruiserweight and technical wrestling you'll find. NWA-Wildside.com Ring of Honor has the best technical wrestling in the United States, period. ROHWrestling.com, RFVideo.com Xtreme Pro Wrestling (XPW) was formed in 1999 by Rob Black, a pornographer. He was friends with a lot of ECW wrestlers, so he was able to bring in Sabu, Kronus, Abdullah the Butcher, New Jack, Vic Grimes, Shane Douglas, Chris Candido, and others. XPW recently went out of business. If you pick the right stuff, there's definitely some good stuff out there. A lot of people hate it, but for the most part, that's because of who owns it. It's very controversial, but a lot of the shit it gets isn't deserved, and a lot of it is. I'm doing a major feature about it's history in the next few months. Everything you ever wanted to know. Stay tuned. XPWrestling.com, WrestlingSuperstore.com PWG is ran by a bunch of So-Cal workers. Go to ProWrestlingGuerrilla.com or SmartMarkVideo.com.
Guest Real F'n Show Report post Posted January 18, 2004 anyone know if the 3PW DVD's are any good? Cuz I saw two of them for $15 each and one of them had Homicide vs. Low Ki on it. Should I buy them?
Guest Markingout Report post Posted January 18, 2004 Cuz I saw two of them for $15 each and one of them had Homicide vs. Low Ki on it. Should I buy them? Yeah, I have seen that that show. Pretty good show Homicide vs Low Ki was *** 3/4 stars IMO. I say go for it. The undercard has Sydal and Ruckus on that show I think.
PsychoDriver 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2004 Thanks a ton. I totally forgot about Wildside and PWG. Any reccomendations on shows for them? Best places to get them? Thanks! For PWG I'd reccomend well everything but it's best to start with the Bad Ass Mother 3000 tourney. You can buy them here: http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com/merch/

I haven't got the DVD yet but live it was a very solid show. Although it would not be the show to start with it's still worth a look.
Guest Markingout Report post Posted January 18, 2004 Live was probabley better than it came out on tape. Very short and the best match being 3 stars. Even though all matches were above 1 and 3/4 stars. Its easily the worst PWG show. Only buy if you want too maintain the collect or want too see a pretty good match in Joe vs Whitmer. The 6 man was just meh.
