Is the WWE Rousing Itself Off The Mat?

If the WWF fans "recognized" the Radicals when they showed up, then why didn't they "recognize" Booker and DDP and some of the other more notable WCW wrestlers when they showed up...or at least "recognize" them to the extent of treating their appearances as something important?

Because they were shoved to the background as Shane/Steph/Austin vs Vince took the forefront. Radicalz were treated as a huge deal.

Booker debuted by attacking Austin, separate from Shane. DDP debuted as the stalker of Undertaker's wife, again separate from Shane.

WWE has a really weird double standard when it comes to incoming people paying their dues...some people have to do it, some don't.

And then they were immediately thumped into Shane's WCW group.

Did you even watch the Invasion?

Unfortunately, yes.

Some of the guys got good reactions when they showed up, but the Booker vs. Bagwell match on that one Raw absolutely tanked everything and they panicked.

You'll get no argument from me that WWE completely screwed up the Invasion(not to mention a whole lot of other stuff since then).
