Guest Coffey Report post Posted January 26, 2004 Alright, I seem to recall people talking about Randy Orton getting injured while performing his own finisher to someone. Can I get the details? What was injured, and who was the opponent? Also, what show was it on? I remember Anglesault talking about it, but he doesn't like an AIM name or anything in his profile, and I needed an answer rather quickly. The discussion has come up for me elsewhere and I don't feel like hunting for the facts, as that would take too long. I don't want to give out false information.... Guest Choken One Report post Posted January 26, 2004 He injured his shoulder doing the Overdrive. Which is why he now does the injury risk free Cutter...
Guest Coffey Report post Posted January 26, 2004 Do you remember who he was giving the move too, or if it was on Raw? Also, what type of shoulder injury?
Guest Mindless_Aggression Report post Posted January 26, 2004 Was it too Christian on Raw? I remember him botching it pretty severely one night when he was still a fiery young babyface.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2004 Are we talking about this? -Meanwhile, Randy Orton, who might have been a top prospect to help fill the gap left by Angle's absence, suffered a serious injury this weekend also. Despite reports floating around that he'll only miss two or four months, the actual minimum time he'll miss is six months, and more likely a full year. Orton's injury happened when Bubba Ray Dudley landed on his foot after a double flapjack by Bubba and D-Von at a Saturday house show. Apparently when Orton went up for the move, he flailed a bit in the air. That caused his feet to get crossed, so when he landed, Bubba landed back-first on top of his foot, breaking his ankle, several bones in his feet, and severely dislocating his big toe. Orton was visibly in severe pain. The wrestlers quickly went to the finish of the match. Orton was tended to for several minutes by paramedics and trainers, and eventually was helped to the back while still showing obvious signs of discomfort (and probably frustration). The word I received today is that he will need surgery with pins placed in his foot to help heel what was apparently was a gruesome looking mangled foot and ankle after the match. Orton is considered a future superstar in WWE and was on the fast track to getting a top tier push. This second setback couldn't have come at a worse time as he was just coming back from another injury, was headed into a match at WrestleMania, and had been grouped with Triple H and Ric Flair as part of the top heel faction on Raw. - Randy Orton has been told that he will have pain in his foot for the rest of his life, due to the severity of his current foot injury. Orton will now have to work through pain even after he returns.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted January 26, 2004 Hmm, actually that's what someone else stated at the place where I was having the discussion. See, I thought he injured his shoulder doing his finisher as well, so him fucking up his foot from a double-flapjack would be WAY OFF for me. Did he get injured twice? Downhome 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2004 I only remember him getting hurt that once, but I don't know for sure.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2004 He beat Christian and Storm in a row on a Raw. In the Christian match, he messed up on the Overdrive, hurt his shoulder, REPEATED the move (something I think wrestlers are never supposed to do if they fuck up), and got the win. Then he faced Storm, botching his OTHER finisher--the Cross Body into a roll up. He nearly landed wrong but Storm prevented any injury from occurring I think, but maybe it aggravated his shoulder. Then the RNN promos began, updating us on his shoulder. That was before he came back, joined Evolution, and got injured again on that Sunday house show--which DH gave a report snippet from. Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2004 That mangled ankle story just reeks of Pillman. Here's hoping they have some good handlers to look after him a bit.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted January 26, 2004 Is ORton the guy they show in the begining of the dont try this at home video? I never get a good shot at the guys face, so i'm not sure.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2004 DH: No problem. By the way, it may not shock anyone, but thought it was worth mentioning that that cross body Orton used to use as one of his finishers...was also used by the Blue Chipper Rocky Maivia. Ironically, Rocky's other finisher was...a shoulder breaker.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2004 Speaking of Orton, I found this on Foley's WWE online bio last week and forgot to mention it. Unfortunately, they changed it back since Foley returned, but I still think it was hilarious. MICK FOLEY Height: 6 foot 2 Weight: Too Much Hometown: Long Island, NY -- Only 15 minutes from the Nassau Coliseum was invited to show, but refused like a coward. After more than a decade of some of the most intense matches in the history of sports entertainment, Mick Foley retired to accolades of icon status. But on RAW on December 15, the true colors of Mick Foley shined through. He could not handle the pressure of facing a Superstar like Randy Orton, so his next move was anything but legendary ... he walked away from WWE. Mick Foley the Noble Role Model? The Fearless Superstar? The Hardcore Legend? If cowardice and fear are the sign of legendary status, Mick Foley is the greatest legend to ever set foot in the ring. After all, would a true Hardcore Legend walk out on a match because he cannot cut it anymore? The fraud is over, the legend of Mick Foley is history. Mick Foley is not a Hardcore Legend ... he is a Hardcore Coward! Randy Orton is the true Hardcore Legend. A fighting Intercontinental Champion, Randy Orton fears no WWE Superstar and has defended his Title against all comers. Unlike Mick Foley, Randy Orton will never walk away from a fight and would never let an opponent spit in his face. Randy Orton is not a fraud. He is not a coward. Randy Orton is a Hardcore Legend, the New Hardcore Legend. Mick Foley is just old news. The preceding was paid for by the Friends and Supporters of Randy Orton. The other order. He had an awful match with Storm where he fucked up the crossbody, then Xian came out and challenged him and Orton hurt himself whilst fucking up the overdrive. Enigma 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2004 So he botches tons of spots and is an injury magnet. He'd already be fired if he wasn't HHH's buddy and didn't have a father and a grandfather in the business. His push is forcefed, not earned by fan support. I had confidence in him when he pulled a good match out of The Undertaker in June 2002, but I guess UT was just carrying him more than I thought possible.
