I miss WCW

Recommended Posts

I remember after getting into wrestling I didn't have cable so I taped the syndicated WWF show(this was after the first ever Smackdown) and eventually I found the WCW equivalent and I enjoyed it. It had a recap of the major events of the week, and until near the end, you had matches. Not great matches necessarily, but matches nontheless. I remember seeing one of the Vilvanos, Chavo, the Gambler, and Disciple. I didn't care. It was wrestling. I believe I also watched WOW around this time. I wonder what ever happened to Terri Gold. I thought she could go places.

Mike Sanders was released from TNA around May 2003 (not sure on the month, but definitely 2nd quarter) due to him being a dick backstage and being pure shit in the ring.

2001 WCW is some of my favorite stuff in all of wrestling. We had Luger and Buff JOBBED THE FUCK OUT in March to O'Haire and Palumbo (who were growing each week as wrestlers), the cruisers being allowed to do pretty much anything they wanted to (VERTEBREAKERS GALORE~!), EZ Money debuting and becoming one of the most over workers in the company by his THIRD match (Jason Jett vs. Kwee-Wee at Greed was INSANELY hot; more so than it had any right to have been), The Magnificent Seven storyline (which, aside from the workers in the stable, I dug), and Chavo Guerrero Jr. kicking ass and taking names. We also got Hugh Morrus going fuck all and actually getting some decent pops, Lance Storm pushed as an upper-midcarder, Mike Awesome before he completely sucked, and NO HULK HOGAN. Sin, SuperBrawl: Revenge, and Greed are three of my favored WCW PPVs, and they happened in quick succession.

Yes, I miss WCW. I miss the young guys getting their chance while the old guys were pushed aside. I miss the solid matches each week, and main events that although had two past-their-prime workers were booked in such a manner to make them seem great. I miss young workers being allowed to do more than your standard punch/kick offense, and the awesomeness of 3Count. Dammit...

BRING BACK 3COUNT!

Amen, Drezzy. Amen.
