Guest Italian Stallion Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 Casino or at home? A few weeks after turning 21, I went to Vegas for 3 days. I played Texas Holdem almost the whole time I gambled. My first hand was my luckiest all weekend. I won $455. The rest of the time I was there I managed to loose a little over $800. The casino thought I was a profitable player for them so they gave me a free buffet and a free of charge $55 room service meal one night. Other than that I played 7 card stud.
TSA09 Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 Well you have "sucker" written on you. You were profitable for them, you managed to give them about $400. They gave you free stuff to keep you there and keep on playing so you would make them more money. Hopefully you took advantage of the free drinks as well, if not you really are a sucker.
KanadianKrusty Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 Not at home or at the casino but at school when we have long breaks between exams and we can't play sports we'll play Texas Holdem non-stop, gambling with peanuts and gummies .

You obviously dont know how a casino runs then. If Im a sucker for loosing $400 then so is 90% of the people at the casinos. Thats the trade in casinos. Casino's rank in $7 billion a year. Thats a fact. Im not a dumbass. I know what I got a free buffet. That was my first time playing in Vegas against pros. I'd like to see you do better. I was having fun with someone else's money. Theres's nothing wrong with that. I suggest you go to Vegas and see what its all about. Dont talk shit if you cant back it up with the truth and facts.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted January 31, 2004 Report Posted January 31, 2004 Home because I can depend on facing less skilled players and earning a few dollars here and there.
Guest Dids Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 I have a weekly NL Texas Hold 'Em game, I also play online at Party Poker. So far I've been playing the .50/1.00 tables. I'll probably move up to 1/2 in a bit. I play tournaments online too- just won my first one this morning (there's a pseudo recap on my site, click Yakov to see). I've also got a friend who hosts a monthly 20$ buy-in tournament. Last time we had 27 people show up, so it pays pretty well if you can place. Dude, if you let the fact that you won 400 bucks allow you to go and drop 800- you are a fish. Playing poker games at a casino, the house only makes money on the rake (assuming you're not playing something like Let It Ride) so you're losing your money to other players, not the house. You shouldn't feel proud of losing to pros. You think about what you've done wrong to allow you to lose. I don't deny that Vegas is fun win or lose, but if you spend some time learning how to play winning cards- you'll have a lot more fun. Two Plus Two, a good site for poker theory if you're interested in learning
Guest wildpegasus Posted February 2, 2004 Report Posted February 2, 2004 Don't you always "win" when you first go into a casino?
Guest BDC Posted February 2, 2004 Report Posted February 2, 2004 Nope, you don't. Sometimes you get cleaned out day 1. Oh, as for not being the sucker against pros? The fact that you won the first day and got cleaned out for double as time went by just proved it. You play against people that make poker their hobby/job/life, you ALWAYS lose in the long wrong, especially since you didn't figure out you were the mark.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted February 2, 2004 Report Posted February 2, 2004 I only gamble arbitrarily on that which has no odds.

You're a fucking idiot, and it's obvious YOU don't understand how casinos work. They reeled you in hook, line, and sinker and gave you some free food to celebrate taking your $400 from you, yet you think that you're not a sucker? Shit. What's it like to be you?
CanadianChris Posted February 4, 2004 Report Posted February 4, 2004 If Im a sucker for loosing $400 then so is 90% of the people at the casinos. Congratulations, you just figured out how casinos work.
Kahran Ramsus Posted February 4, 2004 Report Posted February 4, 2004 If Im a sucker for loosing $400 then so is 90% of the people at the casinos. They are too. However, if you are playing for fun and winning is just a bonus like I do, then it worked out well for both of you.
