Tony149 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2004 I thought the game was coming out the 17th. I guess those who pre-ordered get it sooner. I've heard good things about the game but l probably won't get able to get it when it comes out -- I wish money fell from the sky.

Guest EQ Report post Posted February 11, 2004 The game looked cool, but I couldn't really kill any of the enemies. I always seemed to miss and I didn't notice if there was a way to lock onto targets. I played for less than five minutes though (it was at the store). Was it just me or is Shannon Elizabeth featured in the game?

Tony149 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2004 EA is already developing the next 007 game based on a real James Bond film -- the wrong one but based on a film (which is a cool idea)nonetheless. EA have announced that they will be creating and in-house game developed around the 1995 James Bond film Goldeneye! That's right, folks, GoldenEye will live again! EA have decided to make full use of their publishing rights to the James Bond franchise and create a game based on an existing James Bond film. Traditionally, EA-developed Bond games have been created based around original plotlines and characters. But this time they've decided to work on the popular film licence, which made its' exclusive outing on the Nintendo 64, developed by Rare. Interesting to note that EA have recently formed a deal to publish Timesplitters 3, developed by Free Radical which is formed principally by ex-Rare members. However, EA were quick to dent any speculation that the game would be developed by Free Radical -members of which formed the core of the GoldenEye team when the game was developed by Rare. An EA spokesman had this to say: "Free Radical is not working on any James Bond games for EA. We have no plans at the present time to place Bond with another third party that we're working with - Bond products are currently being developed at our Redwood Shores and Los Angeles offices." Those of you hoping for an update of Rares classic are going to be disappointed, however: this is NOT going to be a "GoldenEye: Directors cut" this will be an entirely new game developed by the in-house development studios in America. It will be interesting to see the reaction of the gaming public to the news that one of gamings best-loved sons is now to be made anew by the worlds largest third party publisher. Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Report post Posted February 14, 2004 The main villain, played by Willem Dafoe, is the successor to Max Zorin. That means that this storyline is a sequel to A View to a Kill. That's pretty cool, actually.

Tony149 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2004 The main villain, played by Willem Dafoe, is the successor to Max Zorin. That means that this storyline is a sequel to A View to a Kill. That's pretty cool, actually. I didn't know that. You're right, that is cool. LTK would be cool as well. I'm a little disappointed EA decided to make their first game based on a movie GoldenEye, but if it means they'll go after some of the other films I'd be down with that. Pipedream, but I'd like to see EA get John Barry to score a Bond game. Don't know if he would even consider it; it would be nice though.

Pipedream, but I'd like to see EA get John Barry to score a Bond game. Don't know if he would even consider it; it would be nice though. Go to the website everythingornothing.com There's a TON of cool stuff. The "spy radio" even has the Bond song for this game. It's "Everything or Nothing" by Mya. Here's the story summary: The biggest development in technology is small-very small-and it's missing. At Oxford's Department of Microtechnology, prototype nanorobots have been stolen, and project scientist Dr. Katya Nadanova (Heidi Klum) has disappeared. The nanobots are equipped with an organic compound that can eat away metal, providing the key ingredient in Nikolai Diavolo (Willem Dafoe)'s plan to seize control of his native Russia and return it to its former glory as a bastion of hard-line anti-Westernism. Diavolo is more than merely a former KBG officer disillusioned by the Westernization of his homeland. The prodigy of 007's nemesis Max Zorin, Diavolo was groomed to carry Zorin's plans to their natural conclusion, namely world domination. Another agent, 003 had been sent to investigate a mysterious mining operation and is now missing. His last known contact was American geologist Serena St. Germaine (Shannon Elizabeth), and Bond is sent to locate her in Peru. While there he discovers that 003 had contacted her in regards to her research on the anomalous platinum levels in the surrounding mountains. Investigating with St. Germaine, Bond is astonished to see Agend 003 undergoing a brutal interrogation at the hands of a mysterious stranger (Diavolo). Bond listens as 003 whispers his last dying words: "You must get to New Orleans … stop Diavolo …" Bond arrives in New Orleans while the city is preparing for Mardi Gras. He has plans to meet with Mya Starling, an undercover NSA agent who is assigned to keep an eye on a Russian Colonel. Mya is performing her title song Everything or Nothing, but is discovered by Arkady Yayakov, the club's owner, before Bond arrives. Yayakov and his right-hand man Jean LaRouge, have lethal plans for her. Bond must race through the club and nearby cemetery to a crematorium to save her. The following morning he receives orders to head to a plantation in the Bayou, where he learns that Katya has modified the nanobot technology for Diavolo's sinister plans. Bond destroys the facility, and sees Jaws escaping toward New Orleans with a tanker full of the improved nanobot technology. He must stop Jaws before he reaches his "test city" and unleashes the nanobots on the steel-supported city of New Orleans. If Jaws succeeds, the nanobots will dissolve the metal and the city will plummet into the Mississippi River, and millions will be killed. At the Q-lab, Bond learns that platinum is the only metal that the nanobots won't destroy. He surmises that this bizarre chain of events must tie directly to Serena's research in Peru. Will the world be made safe for democracy once again? That's up to you. You are Bond - James Bond.

The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2004 It ships tommorow, so it probably won't be on shelves until Wednesday morning. Unless your local game store is close to the shipping center...which mine hardly ever gets them the night before. Only for the real big releases like GTA and Madden will my game stores stay open to sell the night before. So I'm waiting till Wednesday.

Guest Riots bloodlust Report post Posted February 19, 2004 Everything or Nothing is a pretty good game. Personally I think that between it and Nightfire, Goldeneye has been surpassed in nearly all ways. EoN does not have a multiplayer deathmatch like other FPS games, but it does have a sort of power stone lite arena mode, and a scramble mode in coop where you can target and attack each other. Clear out an area and you can have a little death match like that with 2 people. One thing that is head and shoulders above any other Bond game is the AI. If you're not careful, the enemies will flank you. And certianly don't look for an enemy to just sit there while you shoot him from just out of his field of view. They'll rush you if you try something like that. There are also some additional objectives if you're not playing on easy mode, but that's not as extensive as in Goldeneye where it would completely rework the level. All in all I think it deserves the ratings it's been getting (between 8 and 9 out of 10). Also, if anyone has any questions about it, I either know the answer, or can get the answer fairly quickly. Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Report post Posted February 19, 2004 Sorry guys, but between working double shifts to pay for my Prom and playing this game I ahevn't had time for muc online. I love this game. Love it. Love it. Love it. The Learning Curve is a bit wild, some early stages are really tough in comparison to some of the later ones, and on Agent it's surprisingly hard, but I love the care that went into this game feeling like a real Bond movie. The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 Oh yeah, this is one of the few games that makes me want to keep playing it because of the difficulty. Usually I just get frustrated and throw the controller...but this game makes me want to keep playing because it's so cool.

Usually I just get frustrated and throw the controller...but this game makes me want to keep playing because it's so cool. After picking up the game today, I agree with Bps' comments. Everytime Bond failed his mission I couldn't help but to go back and complete the mission instead of waiting till later. As for the game...WOW! They weren't lying when they said it felt like a real Bond film; the voice acting and score is cool. I played GoldenEye two or three times so I can't say EON tops it because I wouldn't know, expect I'm loving this game.
LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2004 I love the game so far. I am decently into it, but still not that far. Far for me, cause I never have time to play my games, but I've been picking at this one little by little, kinda like I did with Manhunt at first, although this is a lot more fun than I've had with a game in a while. Has anyone beaten it yet? Anyone close? I didn't want to leave where I am at, in fear of spoilers, but I think a general "Has it been beaten yet?" will do. Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2004 I beat it the other day, actually. I was terrible unimpressed with the final level. The challenge was getting to Dafoe as I had to go through a ton of his grunts, which was rather frustrating and tedious. When I finally got to him, I beat it in like three tries. I wish the challenge was placed more on the final battle, instead of having to beat a bunch of nothings to get to the final battle. Otherwise, it was fairly fun game. I will probably try to go back through it eventually as I really enjoyed some of the levels. Plus, I am hoping to figure out a few more Bond moments.

I wish the challenge was placed more on the final battle, instead of having to beat a bunch of nothings to get to the final battle. I also beat it yesterday. Now I have to go back and unlock the rest of the items I didn't get the first time. I thought it was a nice touch to include a brief piece with some of the cast members after the credits. Much like Will, I thought the final showdown with Diavolo was a little too...quick. Getting past the thugs was tougher than finishing him off. I did, however, enjoy the game overall. From the voice acting to the score, it truely felt like a Bond film. The pre-title scene I enjoyed very much; reminded me of the pre-title from TND. I loved Bond's line when M mentions Diavolo's connection to Zorin: "Yes. We once played Bridge together, he lost." Obviously a reference to the Golden Gate Bridge battle scene from "A View to A Kill". Beautiful. I look forward to EA's next Bond game, even if I don't think its the right film (GoldenEye) to go after. Although I guess they wanted to go with a Brosnan film instead of one of the other movies first.

I thought that was a hoax? At least that's what I heard. I do know some gaming magazine said it would feature a cover story before they pulled the plug saying something bigger pushed it off. I don't see how that would work. If true EA would be doing attempting something very original, but I just can't see it. I'd prefer playing as 007 than one of his villians. The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2004 Here's the official announcement: "February 27, 2004 - Publishing giant Electronic Arts today officially announced the first details of Goldeneye 2 (which we reported on two days ago), a game in which players will experience Bond like never before -- as a evil, drop-out 00 agent. Gamers take on the role of an agent who's dismissed from MI6 for reckless brutality, and who then subsequently joins the ranks of the criminal underground. Joining up with super-villain Auric Goldenfinger, players battle for control of the world's greatest criminal organization. After patting EA on the back for its high critical marks for the recently released James Bond Everything or Nothing, John Riccitiello, EA's president and COO, said, "And we're not done yet -- today we're announcing that we are developing GoldenEye 2 (working title), a game where players become the ultimate villain in the Bond universe." Under development by EA LA, Goldeneye 2 will appear on multiple consoles (no specific ones were revealed, but we suspect GameCube, PlayStation 2 and Xbox), and is due this holiday season under the EA GAMES label. "Everything or Nothing's success continues to showcase the enormous strength of our collaborative relationship with EA and Danjaq," added Travis Rutherford, senior vice president of MGM Consumer Products and Interactive. "We look forward to continued success with this fall's release of a new chapter in the Bond saga and the creation of another blockbuster franchise in GoldenEye 2." Expect to learn more about Goldeneye 2 around E3."
Anya 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2004 GE 2 sounds so lame. If they're going to whore out the GE name for a buck they could at least actually do a GoldenEye 2 and either remake the original or make a sequel to the story. This is just shady business to leach off Rare's work. I'm betting they're just going to start using the "GoldenEye" name as a brand for their Bond games.
