The world's biggest distributor and maker of video games, Electronic Arts, has announced that it has acquired the rights to make games based on Warner Bros. upcoming CATWOMAN film. The multi-year agreement allows EA to create CATWOMAN games for all current and next generation video game consoles, as well as handheld units and computers.

"CATWOMAN is a great complement to EA's portfolio of global blockbusters and we look forward to delivering a great game based on the film," said Bruce McMillan, EA Executive Vice President on the business arrangement between companies.

Adds Jason Hall, Senior Vice President of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, "As we have enjoyed successful ventures with EA, we are looking forward to continuing the relationship with CATWOMAN. The action, adventure, storyline, and characters in the film offer fertile ground for the development of compelling games."

EA describes their first CATWOMAN game as follows:

Gamers will control Catwoman as they play the movie, utilizing her unique catlike skills, senses and cunning to defeat her enemies. Boasting incredible acrobatic skills, Catwoman can leap across roofs, run up walls, pounce on prey, utilize inimitable "cat senses," and avoid enemy bullets with feline grace. In addition, she can use her whip to swing through the air, and utilize the fully interactive enviroments to trap or knock her foes unconcious. The game will take players through numerous levels set in seven different locations from the movie.

CATWOMAN the movie, starring Halle Berry as the feline heroine, purrs into multiplexes on July 30.

Everytime I hear a really crappy game, the name EA almost always pops up.

That's not always the case.

Yeah, the Spider-Man game based on the movie wasn't bad. Not a gaming masterpiece, but I still felt like I was controlling Spidey, that's all that really matters to me.

Bruce Campbell narrating the tutorial was great, too.

However, when was the last good EA non-sports title?

I haven't played them in a while, but I thought Evil Dead and Hulk were alright.

Real in depth games? Not really for movies, but there are a couple that I have fun with. I liked the Haunted Mansion game, not really based on the movie, but it was a fun, platform, not necessarily kids game. And definately a step up from that horrid, boring Cat in the Hat (movie) game... (yup, I'm a sucker for the kids games, but still, yikes).

Well, considering the craptacular movie it's based on, what do you expect? Mind, I'm not defending EA since it appears they've been sliding recently from the posts here. BUT . . . c'mon, it's this wretched pile of crap that the game is being based on.

*breathes deeply*

No. Musn't judge the movie until I see it . . . must not . . . must . . . not . . .
