Greg Maddux signs with Yankees

Bah Rob, you beat me to it.

There actually IS a rumor that the Yanks are interested in El Duque. It'd be a minor league deal, less than a million. So there's no real risk involved. He is 38 however.

Anyway, back to the important teams, what the hell are the Yankees gonna do for a fifth starter when kevin Brown dies?

Jorge DePaula. 10-11 last season with a 4.35 ERA. 57 walks and 125 Ks for AAA Columbus.

Arizona becoming a punchline is more than enough for me.

And if the Yankees crush the Marlins during the regular season, they will have fulfilled their duty.

Actually, the Yankees are playing the D'backs in the regular season, June 15-17, at Arizona. No games vs. the Marlins.

Haha, ouch. Yeah, go ahead and sign a 38 year pitcher who had his worst season since his rookie year to a batters park. Maddux was awful during the first half last year, then he turned it around with some luck. He gave up more hits than innings pitched along with 25 home runs. The homeruns, being the most hes ever given up, and now taking that to Wrigley is gonna be hilarious. The big name is the only worthy signing of this trade. Maddux is not gonna put up great numbers, and I can lay money on that.

Damnit. This system confuses me.

I think he'll be decent. Not great, but don't expect a Glavine-esqe collapse either. He still never walks anyone.

I don't think ESPN has been updating that list like they did for the free agency one.

He still never walks anyone.

That's probally the best thing he's got going for him as he ages.

That, and I can't recall him EVER missing time from injuries. He's topped 32 starts (except for strike years) every season since 1988.

True. He's been very fournate throughout his career.
