Guest Posted April 15, 2002 Report Posted April 15, 2002 Match #9 Bradshaw d. Brock Lesnar Quick background Bradshaw grew up about 40 miles from Abilene in Sweetwater, TX. He went to college here in Abilene at Abilene Christian University. So he was quite definitely the face. Huge pop as Bradshaw talks about his accomplishments in college and in pro football. Brock is a terrifying human being to say the least. Brock had control through most of this match. Bradshaw would get the occasional offense to a big pop, then more Brock bringing the pain. Match ended with Brock allowing the hometown guy to get the win. Clothesline from Hell (a particularly violent one) sealed the deal. Though after the count of three Brock rolled out of the ring quickly and did a staredown as to not shake his credibility as a beast. Lots of Bradshaw posing for pictures. Credit to 411 Wrestling Gee, nice way to start out a monster push.
Guest chirs3 Posted April 15, 2002 Report Posted April 15, 2002 It's 'Gee', not "Jee". Sorry. And if it was for a small house show, I don't see too much of a problem. Those people and people who look up house show results might be mad, but then again, that's a small fraction of the total audience.
Guest Just call me Dan Posted April 15, 2002 Report Posted April 15, 2002 The absolute last thing the Raw brand needs to do is push another slow big man to the top of thier card. Bradshaw needs a makeover and a feud with someone in IC title range for a test out. Him crushing Lesnar's heat or stinking up the ring with the nWo and Taker is a pathetic alternative to pushing other guys harder like Guerrero after Backlash and even getting Booker T and RVD into those igh profile angles. Screw Bradshaw. He has that stupid I'm a big Texas bad ass push that Austin and Taker both carry around these days.
Guest Posted April 15, 2002 Report Posted April 15, 2002 Lesnar was jobbing to guys like Spike Dudley at house shows before he got on TV, so a win for Bradshaw means nothing. In the WWF universe, if it didn't happen on TV, it didn't happen at all.
Guest Nevermortal Posted April 15, 2002 Report Posted April 15, 2002 I know. Why does everyone from Texas have to be a big bad ass cattle rustler? Why can't there be a big bad ass push of wrestlers from North Dakota?
Guest Zack Malibu Posted April 15, 2002 Report Posted April 15, 2002 On the same house show, the Hardcore Title changed hands several times. I doubt we'll be hearing about that on TV at all, same goes for Bradshaw's win.
Guest Posted April 15, 2002 Report Posted April 15, 2002 It's 'Gee', not "Jee". Uh....what do you mean...um...it's been "Gee" the whole time. Ha..ha. I didn't even...um....edit it or anything. Ha..ha..... *Breaks down and cries because Angle-plex has broken his spelling english words correctly streak*
Guest Posted April 15, 2002 Report Posted April 15, 2002 It's just a house show. True, but it shows WWF is more interested in pushing Bradshaw than Brock.
Guest Kinetic Posted April 15, 2002 Report Posted April 15, 2002 It's just a house show. True, but it shows WWF is more interested in pushing Bradshaw than Brock. No. Brock has beaten Bradshaw at every other show they've done together since Brock appeared on TV. Bradshaw only won last night because it was in Abilene, which is where Bradshaw went to college. How do I know? Because I WAS THERE. Or something.
Guest saturnmark4life Posted April 15, 2002 Report Posted April 15, 2002 I know it's just a house show, but it's still a clean pin after the finisher. He could have rolled him up. i hate to bitch about it but Bradshaw pisses me off. He's worse than taker for all this no selling crap.
Guest Mole Posted April 15, 2002 Report Posted April 15, 2002 "Quick background Bradshaw grew up about 40 miles from Abilene in Sweetwater, TX. Besides, it was just a houseshow. Not too many casual fans know about it, so Brock will still get his push. Quit the bitchin.
Guest Dr. Wrestlingphysics Posted April 15, 2002 Report Posted April 15, 2002 If it was in Lesnar's hometown, or even a neutral town, then the result could be read into deeper, but as it stands, hometown wins in house shows mean nothing. Val Venis had a win against Kurt Angle in a house show in Venis's 'hood, and Val is hardly headlining the next ppv!
Guest TheMikeSC Posted April 15, 2002 Report Posted April 15, 2002 Quote It's just a house show. True, but it shows WWF is more interested in pushing Bradshaw than Brock. >>> No, it shows that the WWF had Brock job in a pointless match. Let me ask you a question: What if Angle pinned Hulk Hogan, HHH, and Rock cleanly in a house show? Would you assume that the WWF is pushing him ABOVE those guys? Or would you, correctly, assume that it's a house show and it doesn't matter. -=Mike
Guest Posted April 15, 2002 Report Posted April 15, 2002 i hate to bitch about it but Bradshaw pisses me off. But he's BIG. He MUST be pushes at least 787 times! Just look at Albert, who is in his 783rd big heel push. I think it may work this time.........
Guest Posted April 15, 2002 Report Posted April 15, 2002 It's Bradshaw's home town so why not give the man a big win against the new monster. Besides, Brock kept his heat afterwards. Remember, Jacques Rougeau beat Hulk Hogan here in Montreal...Did that mean anything? NO If it was televised than it would have been a rocky start for someone who is being pushed as the next big thing.
Guest Caliban Posted April 16, 2002 Report Posted April 16, 2002 I don't like Bradshaw, but it's just a house show. If it didn't happen on WWF TV, then it didn't happen at all (unless it happens to further a storyline, like Jazz's shiner).
Guest Loss4Words Posted April 16, 2002 Report Posted April 16, 2002 You know, to draw a parallel, Steve Austin v Chris Jericho headlined in Winnipeg last June and they had Jericho promoting the event like mad and it ended up being the highest gate they had ever had in Winnipeg. Jericho jobbed. I could also bring up how Wrestlemania was in Test's hometown and on his birthday and he was curtain jerking on Heat, but that would be a little bit too revealing of the hypocrisy behind WWF politics. Not saying either guy should have won their respective matches, but in the same breath, Bradshaw should have jobbed too. But I guess that's just the way things go in the equal opportunity WWF, isn't it?

Guest AM The Kid Posted April 16, 2002 Report Posted April 16, 2002 Stinkin' Bradshaw. He doesn't even have talent..damn!

Jericho jobbed.>>> A Jericho v Austin ME is a FAR different story than a mid-card Lesnar v Bradshaw match. If they were in Minnesota, Lesnar would have gone over Bradshaw. It's not like Brock has yet to lose a match in the WWF. He's jobbed in quite a few dark matches to date. <<<I could also bring up how Wrestlemania was in Test's hometown and on his birthday and he was curtain jerking on Heat, but that would be a little bit too revealing of the hypocrisy behind WWF politics.>>> No, it would show how poor the booking for WrestleMania was. This has nothing to do with politics. It has to do with wrestlers, whenever possible, being put over in their home towns. Heck, when Benoit and Jericho wrestled in Edmonton a year or two ago, Jericho played the heel because it was Benoit's home town. <<<Not saying either guy should have won their respective matches, but in the same breath, Bradshaw should have jobbed too.>>> Why should he have jobbed? It's an irrelevant match. <<<But I guess that's just the way things go in the equal opportunity WWF, isn't it?>>> It was an irrelevant house show. It's not like this is a big deal or anything. -=Mike
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Posted April 16, 2002 Report Posted April 16, 2002 I find it sad that people are now basically expecting Lesnar to get a Goldberg push where he always has to win to maintain his push, since that's basically the worst possible thing that could happen to him longterm. Lesnar needs to win some matches, job, get a win back, and keep on going. He can't cling to nothing more than a worked won/loss record like Goldberg did, if he ever wants to be really over.

He's a 150 pounder stuck in a 280 pounder's body... He is extremely quick in the ring, much like he was on the mat... Don't judge books by thier covers...

I doubt this means Bradshaw is getting pushed, and I agree with those who say this doesn't mean jack because it doesn't... like they mentioned, Lesnar jobbed all the time in dark matches before he appeared on WWF TV, and since his WWF TV feud is seeming to be with the Hardy Boyz, this has even less to do with WWF TV and reality. It's just a "traditional" house show match, two wrestlers with no feud, just going at it. When was the last time you saw one of those on WWF TV? No feud? What?! There can't be a match if there's no feud! If he had jobbed in his first TELEVISED match, I'd be angry, unless he got to totally kill some more people.

Yes, but the problem wasn't that he lost. It was who he lost to. I also agree that it was only because it was a non-televised show in Bradshaw's backyard.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted April 16, 2002 Report Posted April 16, 2002 Thebear, methinks you misunderstood what Dan was bitching about. He was talking about Bradshaw, not Lesnar.
Guest RicFlairGlory Posted April 16, 2002 Report Posted April 16, 2002 If I could quote all of you, I would For christs sake, its a house show. It fucking means nothing. Absolutely Nothing. God you guys are so stupid sometimes, its the same as this backstage politics shit, you dont know a god damn fucking thing about backstage politics. I cant believe how dumb people are getting nowadays. A HOUSE SHOW!!!!
Guest Invader3k Posted April 16, 2002 Report Posted April 16, 2002 Some of you people sure do like to bitch, don't you? It was only a house show, it doesn't matter. It's very common for wrestlers to get the win in their hometown, like others have mentioned. Geez, find more important things to complain about people.
