NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 It is going to be released in March, and I am just wondering if anyone knows if it will be released wide or only in select theaters?
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted February 19, 2004 When I first ssaw the trailer online, I got a indie with limited release vibe. Now I'm starting to think it'll get a wide release. I've seen the trailer on E!'s Coming Attractions show, I believe it's been mentioned on those vile entertainment news shows and I've seen the poster at local mainstream theaters. I'd expect this to get a release similar to Punch-Drunk Love. It was wide, but not in alot of theaters right? EDIT: IMDB shows that the March 19th release will be Limited. Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 I imagine it'll go wide. Jim Carry's paycheck will demand so.
dubq 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 I wonder what his cut is for this flick? Either way, it's the first Jim Carrey move I've been excited about seeing since.. well, I can't even remember.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 Greg's Previews at Yahoo says it's budget was $35 million, which isn't a lot for a Jim Carrey movie...hell, he got $25 million for Bruce Almighty. Also said it's going wide release
Guest thebigjig Report post Posted February 19, 2004 I'm thinking limited... the March release date proves that the studio isn't exactly banking on it to be a huge hit anyway
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted February 19, 2004 Perhaps it's going limited at first and will expand later. I'm sure Jim took a pay cut. He probably has a deal where he gets a cut of the profits.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 early reviews that I have read said it is a really good movie, but definately not for everbody: translation; the masses will hate it because Jim Carrey is not doing physical comedy. It might get the wide release as far as play in every city, but instead of being in every theater in the city you may have to go to the ONE, UA or Century theater that is playing it. We have all the stereotypical types of theaters here so I will be seeing it regardless
LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 My guess is it will end up like Punch Drunk Love. People will hate it because the star isn't doing what he is usually doing. I think it will draw some crowds with the rest of the cast too, seeing there are quite a few names. I saw the poster at the theater at the mall when I went to see Monster the other night, which would indicate to me it'll be there at one time or another. NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 this is kind of off-hand, but does anyone know the name of the song that comes on in the trailer?
