JJMc Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 EDIT: If you want to move this to tape trading, or anywhere else, feel free. I'm looking to invest in some PAL conversion equipment as I do trades for PAL tapes on a regular basis and it's getting a tad expensive having them converted all the time. Anyway: 1)If I were to buy a converter and a PAL vcr, would I also need a TV that can display a PAL signal? 2)Would it be cheaper just to buy a multisystem VCR (one that can be used with any monitor)?
Guest Razor Roman Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 Just go with a multisystem VCR.
JJMc Posted February 23, 2004 Author Report Posted February 23, 2004 Just go with a multisystem VCR. Will those display a PAL signal on a NTSC television?
Guest Razor Roman Posted February 23, 2004 Report Posted February 23, 2004 I've only ever seen one in action, and it did.
Guest OnlyMe Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 With NTSC on a PAL TV, the answer is "sometimes". I'd assume it's the same the other way around.
JJMc Posted February 26, 2004 Author Report Posted February 26, 2004 Here's another question...if I just got a signal converter and put it between a normal (NTSC) VCR and the TV, would it display an NTSC signal?
JJMc Posted February 27, 2004 Author Report Posted February 27, 2004 What do you think it would do? Um...I don't know. I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.. in either case, several people have told me that you need both a converter and a PAL deck to display a PAL tape on an American TV. But it seems to me that running a converter in the middle would do the job even without a PAL or multisystem VCR. I was just wondering if anyone knew, that's all. -Jim
