JJMc 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 EDIT: If you want to move this to tape trading, or anywhere else, feel free. I'm looking to invest in some PAL conversion equipment as I do trades for PAL tapes on a regular basis and it's getting a tad expensive having them converted all the time. Anyway: 1)If I were to buy a converter and a PAL vcr, would I also need a TV that can display a PAL signal? 2)Would it be cheaper just to buy a multisystem VCR (one that can be used with any monitor)? JJMc 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2004 Just go with a multisystem VCR. Will those display a PAL signal on a NTSC television?

Guest OnlyMe Report post Posted February 24, 2004 With NTSC on a PAL TV, the answer is "sometimes". I'd assume it's the same the other way around.
JJMc 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2004 Here's another question...if I just got a signal converter and put it between a normal (NTSC) VCR and the TV, would it display an NTSC signal?
Guest OnlyMe Report post Posted February 26, 2004 What do you think it would do?
JJMc 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2004 What do you think it would do? Um...I don't know. I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.. in either case, several people have told me that you need both a converter and a PAL deck to display a PAL tape on an American TV. But it seems to me that running a converter in the middle would do the job even without a PAL or multisystem VCR. I was just wondering if anyone knew, that's all. -Jim
