TheFranchise Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 Towards the end of the match, the referee (Kinkiski) pulls Race away from Flair by the hair, did this happen regularly back then? I can't see that happening today
Slayer Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 I think it was just a Kiniski thing If you've heard/read the shoot interview with Race, he'll say Kiniski was a total hindirance to this match (and it shows, especially with the fucked up ending)
Guest Astro Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 Refs often pulled hair, and blocked punches... and didn't get Ko'd twice a night
WrestlingDeacon Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 Back then having a special referee was a big thing and a crowd popping portion of those matches would be when the ref finally had enough and get physically involved. See, the point of having the special ref was that the match was going to be so big and so violent that a regular referee couldn't handle it, you needed a "special enforcer."
Guest theoldxpac Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 Kiniski was one of the few bad things in that match, he kept getting in the way too often, and it really started to piss me off.
IWD Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 To be honest, I didn't find Kiniski too bad. The commentary sold Kiniski's purpose well enough to me.
