AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2004 ...why did you post a link to the same pic, Andrew? Anyways, for reference sake, here's the original Rockman box art I was getting the Red X of Doom every time. While not quite as bad, that Rockman art looks crappy. Anya 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2004 Also, Ryu is drawn in his Alpha-style, but his sprite is ripped from SF3. Bah. That isn't just drawn in Alpha style, it IS an Alpha pic. That is directly from Alpha 3. Ryu's CvsS sprite isn't ripped from III.

Anya 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2004 So is Dan. They're pretty cool too. I especially like Bison. A shame everyone wasn't redrawn.

I don't have any of the SF3's but the shotos seemed to resemble the screen shots I've seen. The point still stands--it's a completely different art style. And yeah, the oooold sprites really look bad, especially Morrigan, Sakura, and Zangief.
Anya 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2004 Ryu has the older, post Alpha look, but it's not actually the SF III sprite. You don't own 3S!?

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted February 29, 2004 So is Dan. They're pretty cool too. I especially like Bison. A shame everyone wasn't redrawn. I tend to forget Dan, a waste of another SNK slot (K') K' would have been a good choice, but in general it seemed the SNK roster was lacking. Athena's pretty popular and she's a character that's been in plenty of SNK games, but she was left out, oddly. Maybe Capcom figured since MotM was shoto-riffic, they'd be more diverse in theirs. Yet, that doesn't explain the lack of Karin in all the games (no, being simply a non-playable in MotM doesn't count!). Coolest new character in a while, and those bastards leave her out! Also, despite the extra buttons and characters, for some reason Capcom vs. SNK2 just doesn't make me "feel it" like Capcom vs. SNK. Maybe it is because of the backgrounds that suck in comparison. Also, while I think the logo itself is cool and all--Zelda games there are little more than a gold background, the Legend of Zelda logo, and the title itself as a subtitle is boring. Maybe I'm alone on that, but I don't like it. The Oracle of Seasons/Ages had spiffier box art, and that helps. The other boxes seem pretty lazy to me. You don't own 3S!? I did, but I don't have it any longer. I thought Capcom might release it on PS2 and since I have issues with the DC pad for 6-button fighters, I figured it was worth the risk. Sure, we got Capcom vs. SNK 2, but screw that. I've put some peeps on the lookout for used copies of 3rd Strike.

However, I hate it when a company slacks off in any way for a sequel.
Renegade 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2004 Slacks off in presentation? Yeah a bit but lets face it, CvS could have been much better in presentation anyway since it was the first time to see Capcom and SNK characters together in the arcades. In CvS2 the gameplay is boosted up so much that it makes CvS unplayable Again this is an issue of Gameplay vs Gloss. If a game can have both then great, but gameplay is a much more important factor in what makes a good game. Competitive, hell even casual play on CvS is a joke unless your playing against the computer. (Not SVC level joke but still its pretty bad) Also the robot voice box on CvS can't touch the CvS2's announcer.
