It's certainly an interesting case. By the way, it's the US that is involved not the UK. I've heard on the news that former minister Clare Short has said that the UN WAS spied on. I wonder what the motives were for the spying/bugging?

Hehe ... Claire Short's so getting hauled over the coals for this.

Such recklessness...

I've just heard that Blair is refusing to confirm or deny any involvment in spying on the UN. If this is proved, the government could be in DEEP shit.

The articles, both from British sources, clearly say the British were doing at least their share of the spying. Don't try to absolve them because of your anti-US agenda.

It seems every time a new crisis comes up for Tony Blair, everyone says 'this is it, he's got to go now' but the nickname Teflon Tony has always been frighteningly apt. Nothing sticks to the man, at all. Now I've said it before, but this latest scandal really could be it for Blair. It's already incurred the wrath of Kofi Annan, understandably, and if it turns out private conversations between Annan and other world leaders have been recorded by the British intelligence, Blair is going to be left an international pariah, loathed by pretty much everyone except Bush. This really could be it.

..........

Nah, course it won't be! But how do we think he's going to squirm out of this one? Simply saying Claire Short's a poopoohead and hoping it goes away, his response to the crisis so far, isn't really going to cut the mustard. With anyone.

the wrath of Kofi Annan

I find this phrase inexpressibly funny.

Hey, did you hear about the newest travesty from Kofi?

He chaired a commission studying the harm done to Palestinians by Israel constructing their security wall without mentioning, at any point, terrorism acts against Israelis.

And the General Assembly in 2003 passed a resolution protecting the rights of Palestinian children --- while refusing to pass as similar one on the protection of the rights of Israeli children.

The U.N is a joke of a group and the sooner we remove ourselves from it, the quicker it can return to irrelevancy.

Apologies, my mistake.

It's hilarious the intelligence services couldn't get a handle on what saddam was up to for the past ten years, but that dodgy bastard kofi annan - they're all the hell over his evil ghana ass.
