Poor RoH

Recommended Posts

So for their April 23rd debut in St Paul Minnestoa, which was already going to be a tough sell, they now have competition. WWE announced today that it's running St Paul Friday the 23rd as well. In addition, they also announced that their June 13th PPV is in Dayton--one day after RoH's show in Dayton. Purposeful swipes? Pure coincidence? You decide!

Yeah, if fans travel in for Notkingofthering in June, they might check out ROH. But the St. Paul thing DOES seem a little odd. Probably just a coincidence, since even as a huge ROH fan, I doubt Vince sees them as a threat.

Doesn't Ring of Honor usually run in the afternoon?

They've never run in the afternoon. The earliest has been a couple 5 PM bell times.

Seriously, why would Vince give a rats ass about an Indy promotion that doesn't even have a T.V. deal? It's not like the entire country of wrestling fans knows about them, and only a small percentage of fans see the events live.

This is a true test too ROH too see truely how popular they are. I hope ROH does well. Pure coincidence by the way.

I don't know... are the normal ROH fans really huge WWE fans as well?

Most indy fans I know hate the WWE and most WWE fans have no clue about the indys peroid. Somehow I don't think either will be too effected by this...

Well WWE will get more advertising than ROH. You have got too think ROH is trying too get new fans in the seats, and WWE is taking all of practically by running same town and same date as ROH.

The problem is they're just trying to get the average wrestling fan with nothing to do on a friday night to come to their show. It's hard to do that when the WWE is in town, unless you reduce your GA prices drastically.

It's arguable on that one. Mania is different because the attendance isn't locals that have RoH accessible to them all the time. The majority of the audience is going to be flying in, and a lot of RoH fans, flying in for mania, will take their chance to see RoH live the one time they're in New York. Nobody is going to fly in for Bad Blood, and it's much more likely that locals will say, "We'll just wait till next time they come back."

Anyone in there right mind would deffinantly choose RoH over WWE. More action and more focused on wrestling then anything else. Id choose any good indy promotion over a WWE show. Cheaper and more exciting.

It's probably a coincidence, but I wouldn't doubt Vince trying to look powerful just for kicks.

However, I don't see any way ROH will be adversely affected by this. They have nothing to worry about. ROH fans would choose ROH over WWE any day. Plus WWE fans in the area might check out both.
