Hosts are Dr. Tom and Josh Matthews.

Dr. Tom’s been in the wrestling business for 25 years, and has never been so exited for an event as the upcoming WrestleMania XX. It seems there has been a change of heart for your Olympic Hero, how will this affect tonight’s Smackdown?

Giving away three copies of the Monday Night Wars DVD on today’s show. Will I win? Um, no. First question is: Who did Eric Bischoff challenge at the 1998 Slamboree PPV?

Segment One: Edge

Surprise guest Edge joins the show, who unfortunately didn’t pace himself properly in a recent match in OVW and pulled the tendons in his leg. He’ll be in a walking cast for the next two to three weeks. Good news though, is that his neck feels great! Edge blames Ivory for the injury, as she distracted him.

The obligatory OVW namecheck returns! Edge is biased towards those who wrestle his style, and mentions Johnny Jeter, Matt from Tough Enough, Seven and Tank Toland. He has no bias towards returning to either RAW or Smackdown, however – and would just like the chance to compete for either World Title.

Update on his book? It’s coming out in November and Edge completed the cover photography last week. All that needs to be done now is the editing – and Edge wants to stress that there was no ghost writer, he wrote the book himself.

Thoughts on Eddie Guerrero’s title win? He’s proud of Eddie and loves him to death. He and Benoit both deserve what they have recently achieved. As soon as Eddie won the title at No Way Out, Edge gave him a call. He considers him one of his best friends in the business.

Rebecca from Connecticut asks Edge if he thinks the talent is finally getting their chance at the titles. Edge believes the fans are finally ready to accept these guys in the positions they are in now. When he is back on the active roster, Edge definitely sees his goal as the WWE Title, as he has achieved everything else. He has five; maybe six good years left in him, and wants to spend those at the top level.

On the forthcoming Canada PPV, Edge thinks that whenever a Canadian wrestler wrestles up there, they are treated as ‘hometown’ regardless of here in Canada they actually live – its difficult to describe if you’re not part of the Canadian elite.

Cody from Indiana (who maybe the best ever caller, seriously) wants to know if there will be another E&C tag team run. Edge would like to see one more run, but doesn’t believe it will happen for a long time.

Edge leaves.

Answer to the first question is Vince McMahon – who shit himself at the thought of facing Easy-E.

Question number two: Who were Benoit’s opponents at his first WrestleMania?

We receive the EXCLUSIVE results of the sexiest Byte This co-host poll. Victoria comes in first with a massive 72%, while Dr. Tom comes in a poor third with a mere 10%. It’s a fix, I tells ya.

We are shown footage of Kane vs. Jericho from a recent RAW is WAR. If gay marriage was legal, there’d be an Ashley Jacobs here right now – Kane’s totally buff.

Segment Two: Chris Jericho

Joined by Y2J, who lays into Josh for the terrible segue. It makes Jericho laugh to see where guys, who were told they were too small to leave the midcard in WCW, are today. He believes he was mishandled by Bischoff. Speaking of Eric, if looks could kill when he entered WWE, he wouldn’t be alive today. Jericho’s glad that he now has the opportunity to get to know him on an employee to employee basis, as boss to employee certainly didn’t work.

Thoughts on Eddie winning the title? Jericho has always believed in Eddie, and is impressed with the strength of his recent promos – he has been tapping into a Mick Foley element. Eddie is now making ‘money promos’, ones which will make people want to buy the PPV – something which Josh will never know about. Wrestling is all in your head, not about your size.

Jericho is using a Japanese voice mail message on his cell phone. He got Funaki to record it, and has previously employed Tajiri as well. He enjoyed his MAD TV experience, and in true Y2J style, improvised and changed his script around a bit. The show he would most like to be on though is Beat Up The Nerdy Byte This Reporter’. Sounds good, according to Dr. Tom.

On what it was like to headline WrestleMania 18 in Canada, Jericho says that and his show stealing match with Shawn Michaels the next year were like a double punch of greatness.

Jessica from Illinois, who sounds genuinely amazed to be on the phone with her hero, Chris Jericho – is cut off before she has the chance to ask her question. There are some heartless people in this world.

Talk turns to Ralphus~!, who Jericho hasn’t seen since he left WCW. Jericho remembers that at the time he was mocking Goldberg, and thought this fat guy with no wrestling knowledge and terrible teeth (must be English) would be perfect for the role of security guard. Unfortunately he had to let Ralphus go as he was developing too much of an ego, with talk of agents and fatter contracts. Jericho thinks that instead of making Ralphus wrestle, he should have just accompanied wrestlers to the ring – he would have remained a cult favourite.

On the situation with Trish, Jericho says that the storyline has been going on for 22 weeks – one of the longest in a while. He thinks people are interested because they have no real idea where it is heading. Tune in Monday to find out what happens!

On Fozzy, Jericho thinks WWE has been both a help and a hindrance in their career. There are a lot of similarities between bands and matches – and Fozzy are recording their second album now. Concerning ECW, Jericho says it was a great place to be, as the wrestlers were not concerned with making money, they were doing it because they enjoyed wrestling. It helped him to gain worldwide publicity, as he was in the promotion when it was hitting its peak in popularity.

Thoughts on Benoit’s switch to RAW? Jericho is looking forward to wrestling him and was glad their first match was on the Japan tour, where they haven’t wrestled for 10 years.

Jericho leaves after telling Josh he will always be mediocre.

Answer to the second question is Chris Jericho and Kurt Angle!

Question number three: Along with Chris Benoit, who were the other members of the Radicalz?

Segment Three: Chris Benoit

Joined by the master of toothless aggression!

Dr. Tom asks that considering he has been a name in the wrestling business since he started, whether he is doing anything special to prepare for WrestleMania XX. Benoit says he is just more focused than he has been before, and is ignoring actually sitting down and thinking about the situation he is in, as it is a bit overwhelming.

Benoit is totally psyched for the PPV in Edmonton, as the fans are always special. It makes Benoit feel proud to have Eddie winning the title. Eddie is a big part of who he is as a wrestler today, and vice-versa. He also says that he is really enjoying the focus of the new guys shifting to a more mat based, technical style.

Some guy tells Benoit he is his dad’s favourite wrestler. Right, thanks dude. Benoit says wrestling in Kansas City always brings back memories of Owen Hart. Anyone who got to know him liked him. Benoit believes a wrestler never stops learning – his talent is a culmination of anyone who has stepped in a ring with.

If Dean Malenko was still on the active roster – Benoit believes he would be enjoying the success that he and Eddie are. Benoit learnt from Malenko – it was he who taught the Rabid Wolverine the Crossface.

Benoit left WCW because he was annoyed with the power structure, and saw so much around him which he didn’t like. He also knew that to call himself the true world champion he had to be in WWE.

Benoit doesn’t believe that anyone who has been in the business for a while can note a single match which represents who they are as a wrestler. Although he does see his Best of 7 with Booker T as his favourite series of matches in WCW.

Benoit leaves.

Answer to the third question is Eddie Guerrero, Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko, who is a big fan of beef.

Josh Matthews in going to Disney World after WrestleMania XX!

End of show.

But the Raw belt really isn't a "true" world title is it? With a list of ex-Champions reading HHH, HBK and Goldberg.... well, that speaks for its self. The only "true" title around in the US is the SD one, IMO anyway.

You don't think the average fan looks at them as "real" world champions? A lot of fans look at Smackdown as the second rate show.
