I think it went Nitro, Thunder, Nitro, Thunder, Nitro, Thunder, Thunder again and then GaTB as an extra eighth match, but I forgot to be honest. What would you say was the best out of the whole Nitro / Thunder bunch if any of you can remember?

Match 1 (Nitro, 5/25/98)- Benoit via Crippler Crossface (1-0)

Match 2- (Thunder, 5/27/98)- Booker via missile dropkick (1-1)

Match 3- (Saturday Night, 5/30/98)- Benoit via german suplex (2-1)

Match 4- (Nitro, 6/1/98)- Benoit via Crippler Crossface (3-1)

Match 5- (Thunder, 6/4/98)- Booker via missile dropkick (3-2)

Match 6- (Nitro, 6/8/98)- Booker via Jack Brisco rollup (3-3)

Match 7- (Thunder, 6/11/98)- Booker via DQ (3-4)

Match 8- (Great American Bash '98)- Booker via missile dropkick

From what I remember, Match 1 was the best out of the series. If you count GAB '98, I would probably pick that as their best match.

isnt one of these matches on the Monday Night Wars DVD? As for the question, its all kind of a blur as I get mixed up with what happened in what match. I didnt see them all either only the ones on Nitro and GAB as I didnt watch much of Thunder.

The Great American Bash was the best match overall. They played off previous bouts and had a fantastic finishing sequence. The ending was a little unclimatic but that was due to Benoit's unselfhisness.

Bret intefered on Benoit's behalf in 7, which lead to a rematch (Great American Bash '98).

Wouldn't this have just given Booker the series win?

Or was Bret just a heel interfering in a face vs. face match?

Bret was a heel interfering in a face vs "tweener" match.

Before the 7th match in the best of 7 series Eric Bishoff and Bret Hart came out saying they had their eyes on a new international member for the NWO. They pump him up for a bit until Bret says it's Benoit. He than plays on the fact that he helped out Benoit earlier in his career to help convince him to join. Benoit comes down to the ring, passes by Bishoff and Hart who are cheering on Benoit and than gives them a look you can't read. Benoit and Booker proceed to have their match while Hart and Bishcoff look on from a fair distance away sitting on a car. Benoit does his awesome trademark spot at the time consisting of chops, forearms and multiple kicks in the corner. The refferee pushes him out. Behind the refs back Bret hits Booker T with a steel chair and Booker collapses. The ref starts counting to 10 but Benoit stops him midway through the count and tell him what happened so the ref disqualifies Benoit. Benoit's lost the series. A screwy ending but for screwy endings it's my favourite ever. Benoit who was a "tweener" teetering on going to the bad side after heelish actions at the end of the 6th match had actually stopped the refs count and his chance at finally, finally getting gold. It really defined his charactor at the time. I believe Booker T who respected Benoit as a competitor than went with JJ Dillion saying what had happened was wrong so to solve the situation JJ Dillion orders a final match at the Great American Bash to finally settle the series between Benoit and Booker T. Benoit now a bonafide full fledge face because of actions on the Nitro after the PPV and Hart would than have their first ever match on Nitro shortly afterwards.
