WWE RAW & Weekend Ratings

WMXX not impacting ratings...

- WWE RAW did a 3.8 rating off hours of 3.7 and 3.9. That rating is down from a 3.9 last week. With WrestleMania XX just two weeks away, anticipation for the show has failed to boost ratings at all as it traditionally does.

- Velocity did a 0.9; Confidential did a 0.6; Heat did a 0.9.

Next week, the ratings will increase, since EVERYONE knows the Rock is back. And since it's the last RAW til Bawh Gawd Wrestlemania!

If I am remembering correctly, Wrestlemania X7 did not do much for the ratings heading into the show as well. I also remember that being the time period where the first cracks in WWE popularity started to appear.....

X-7 was like Banquo's ghost in Macbeth

It occured at the greatest moment in the WWE's history: when a new football league was beginning, the competition was dead, a new WWF/WCW feud was simmering, The Rock was angling towards becoming a Hollywood icon, and the biggest star in the history of the company was back in top form for the first time since 1997.

But the dark ending of the actual show was an omen for the company, because like Banquo's ghost, it signalled dark times in the wings for the company.

Pr'ythee, see there! behold! look! lo! how say you?--

Why, what care I? If thou canst nod, speak too.--

If charnel houses and our graves must send

Those that we bury back, our monuments

Shall be the maws of kites.

Act III, Scene 4
