Sammy Studios announces Guilty Gear Isuka

Recommended Posts

Latest iteration of 2D fighter will offer new characters, four-player competition on the PS2.

Today Sammy Studios announced it will bring Guilty Gear Isuka, the latest installment in the Guilty Gear 2D fighting franchise, to the PlayStation 2. Currently available for play on the Atomiswave arcade hardware in Japan, the home version of Guilty Gear Isuka is in development at Arc System Works, and will be available in Q4 2004. In spite of the predominant use of 3D graphics in fighting games today, Isuka will maintain the Guilty Gear series' trademark of using high-resolution 2D animation for its characters.

Guilty Gear Isuka will add three characters to the series' existing playable fighter roster, for a total of 23. The game will feature a new customization mode that will let players modify their characters by earning new fighting moves and costume options. New gameplay features include a side-scrolling action-game mode and four-player support, which will allow for two-versus-two or four-versus-AI matches.

The game will also flesh out the storyline of the Guilty Gear universe by pitting players against superhuman soldiers called "gears," which are the result of the fusion between human and animal DNA. The game's story and characters were conceived by Daisuke Ishiwatari.

We'll bring you more on Guilty Gear Isuka as it becomes available.

Awesome. If I could design my concept of the perfect fighter, it probably would be a pale imitation of Guilty Gear. Was playing X2 last night...hot damn that thing looks amazing, the music is fantastic, and it plays fast and great. Although I'm a complete scrub at the game, I don't care.

Now, will the SCEA anti-2D Nazis let this through? Or am I going to have to find a flip-top (still having a hell of a hard time finding one) for my PS2 or spring for an X-Box?

I need to learn to actually play the GG games, more of a reason to do so. Huzzah for having a modded console.

Daisuke Ishiwatari = good shit.

Yeah, I need to learn to play it, too. In the meantime though, it's still really, really good.

Are there any REPUTABLE sites I can find a flip top casing from? You said the slide tool messed your PS2 up so I don't wanna try that. Lik-sang has NOTHING in the realm of importing devices for PS2.

Hell, I can't even find Metal Slug 3 anywhere.

Also, was that Sammy vs. Capcom rumor just a rumor after all, or is something actually going to happen with it? I haven't heard anything solid about it at all.
