Guest Cerebus Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 Ok, my neighbor's brother came here to the states a while back and has since got his green card. Eventually he brought over his fiance from India (where they're from) and they had a baby...unfortunately because of a beaurcratic SNAFU the INS was ready to deport the wife and the baby. So, they asked my dad and I for help (my dad is a former lawyer). My dad was at a loss, but I remembered something I learned in my Congressional politics class and so I told them to call Rep. Larson (our congressman) and explain the situation. That was about two weeks ago, and now all is cleared up thanks to some pushing and shoving from our congressman! So to those of you think that there is no pratical use to a political science degree YOU'RE WRONG...in this case anyway.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 Just what we need -- more people in this country. Thanks a lot Cerebus...
welshjerichomark Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 Yes because Lord knows America is an incredibly overcrowed country.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 Well you just stay on your side of the pond Frenchie (or whatever country you're from over there -- all you Europeans look alike) and there will be no problems...
Slayer Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 You needed a poli-sci degree to get the idea about calling your congressman?
kkktookmybabyaway Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 He probably greased the pol's palm a bit, too...
Slayer Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 Ah, so that's what a poli-sci degree does... it doesn't teach you about gov't, it just shows you where to establish "connections" Right-o
