BitTorrent

Recommended Posts

Can anyone explain to me the whole BitTorrent idea? What it is, how to get it, what it does, how you use it? Etc.

I'm really curious about this. I've heard alot about it, but don't know exactly what its all about.

Thanks for any help.

This is my first time using a Bit Torrent client, and I'm pretty much lost. After visting the link that bps provided, all I picked up was that I had to configure my firewall, which I'm not sure if I did correctly.

I tried to use ABC, but that was even more confusing. Could somebody give a simple, step-by-step guide to using either BitTornado or ABC? I'm using BitTornado, but my downloads are really slow. If it helps, I'm using a cable modem and the free edition of ZoneAlarm.

Other info that might be important:

-There's a yellow circle in the upper right-hand corner.

-I currently have settings for set to "dsl/cable fast."

-I have upload rate (kB/s) set to 80, and max uploads set at 5.

Any suggestions?

Here are the steps.

1) Download a client like ABC, and install it.

2) Go to a site that has torrent links and click on whatever you want (suprnova.org and it's search site novasearch.net are the best IMO).

3) There isn't a step three, ya jackass. ;)

I DO advise you to download a program like PeerGuardian or the such, to block IPs from connecting to you. Just get PeerGuardian, it's my favorite.

Thanks DH, but I already managed to get that far. I'm having trouble configuring it so that it runs effectively. Particularly, I can't figure out what the hell to do with my firewall and the upload speeds.

I now have the SAME problems.
