MIDI

Guest I'm That Damn Zzzzz

I found this on a quick search.

http://www.tabit.net/faq.htm

First, if you aren't getting an error message or a lockup, check the Volume Control in Windows. Double-click the speaker icon  on the taskbar to get to this. Look for a "MIDI" or "Synthesizer" control and ensure it's turned up high enough, and that Mute is not checked.

If you're sure the volume is up, then probably the wrong MIDI "instrument" is selected in Windows. Try this: click on the Start button, then go to Settings, Control Panel. Double-click Multimedia. Then on the "MIDI" tab check which instrument is selected. Many sound cards list a "MIDI out" instrument which, when selected, sends all MIDI music (which is what .mid files and TabIt uses to play) out the MIDI port on the sound card instead of through the computer speakers. Try selecting different ones and clicking Apply until you find one that produces sound. (Since the names of the instruments differ between sound cards we can't just say "click on this particular one.")

If Step 2 didn't help, it could be that the wrong MIDI device is selected in TabIt. Go to Options on the Tools menu, then on the MIDI tab try each of the options under "MIDI Output Device."

If you still have trouble with the sound, you may need to update your computer's sound card driver.
