According to GameSpot, Electronic Arts is going to make a game based on the Godfather movies. Here's a portion of the article:

Publisher confirms an adaptation of the classic Francis Ford Coppola films, and it will likely be M-rated.

 

Hoping to cash in on the popularity of the crime genre, Electronic Arts is going to make gamers an offer they (probably) won't be able to refuse--an adult-targeted game based on the classic Godfather film franchise.

 

News of the Godfather game came from EA's Chief Financial Officer Warren Jensen, who was speaking at the 17th Annual Bear Stearns Media, Entertainment, & Information Conference in Palm Beach, Florida. "I think that many of you know that we are developing The Godfather," he told a crowd at the event. While he did not reveal a release date for the game, Jensen did say it "will likely be an M-rated game."

 

I love the Godfather films, but I don't know how to feel about this. On one hand, EA could end up releasing a crappy adaptation of a classic film, but on the other hand, a Godfather game could be pretty cool.

Well, wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up first.

 

I really wouldn't trust EA to this project. What sort of game to expect? A GTA/Mafia-style game seems likely, but just wouldn't quite fit.

Unless of course you play as Sonny, then a GTA style would fit. Of course you would have to get offed half way through the game.

 

Honestly, I have no clue what type of game this would be. Even though EA did a good job replicating the Bond movies, this is not an action movie. Do you plan all the killings and have people carry them out for you or what?

 

I think the best part would have to be getting to play as Sonny and giving Carlo a beating on the street. The option to be Carlo beforehand and beat the shit out of Talia Shire would be great too (not to condone spousal abuse, I just dislike Talia Shire). Of course, none of this shit will get to be in the game.
